You could wipe the black off the slide with a paper towel on the one I got. Taurus said the would look into it and never called back. When I called again they said they couldn't help me. I still like my pt111 but I think I'm done with Taurus. p.s my 709 came with a scratched up slide too.
That's one thing you ain't kidding about.
I don't know what kinda finish they're putting on their guns but the black finish is trash.
I don't care much since it's a carry gun, but it really is a weak finish.
Mine won't come off with a towel but I have noticed the brass rivet above my jean pocket is making a real mess of the slide even though im careful about putting it in my pocket.
15.99 shipping so total is 135 shipped.
Still good price though, I paid 145 a couple weeks ago.
Good deal on some other guns like the 709 also.
It's a shame so many of them are listed as "send me the price".
I don't bother shopping for those and it casts a shady overtone if you ask me.
Hate this gun. Had big problems with ftf using 6 different loads. Wouldn't trust this as a secondary weapon. Feels real cheap and doesn't feel good in my hand, gave it to a friend that has little lady hands.
The extractor on this little pistol has pretty tight tolerances. I'm "familiar" with full disassembly and light modifications of firearms in general. A bit of work on one of these that I own (I own 2 and take care of a 3rd) and all of them will feed/function with any ammo I throw at them now.
Taurus discontinued this guy. they have a new 380 coming out, soon called taurus spectrum
I guess I'm the only one that thinks this gun is a little suspect. I've put about 250 rounds of various factory loads through the thing. 2-3 times out of every 50 I get a FTE. Are those bobbles? When does the break-in period close?
As it stands now I can't completely trust this thing and the SW Bodyguard goes with me instead. Shame too, it would be a cool little shooter.
I had an older one that was very good from the first shot but it was stolen. I bought a replacement and the extractor sheared off in about 150 rounds. Before it broke it was nowhere near as reliable as my first one. Taurus handled it very well but my confidence is shattered. I didn't like the bodyguard and my Kahr was a POS.
Question,
Is this tcp a striker fired pistol? Or hammer fired like the ruger lcp?
It is hammer fired. It is pre-cocked by the slide so it is not true DAO, but because the hammer is pre-cocked it has an exceptionally nice double action trigger.
Good little weapon for a backup, not sure if I'd use as my primary but of course it's better than nothing at all.
Mine is an every day carry for years now. Keep it clean and lubed and it's 100% reliable. I use an uncle George holster in my back pocket. This is the lowest price I've ever seen.

Great price for a conceal carry light weight. Cant pass this up.
I almost forgot, since the warranty is transferable, it ads to the re-sale value if you ever needed to. I got mine used for $145 shipped. What a deal!!!
I own one of these and out of all the pocket .380's I have shot, this one is by far the best, and not just the best value. Sights are very low profile but 100% usable. Recoil is very low and reliability 100%. Have I shot every .380 out there, no but this is the best of all I have.
what all pocket 380's have you shot? Just trying to determine what you're comparing this one to. I've got a Colt Mustang and looking for another pocket 380 for the lady friend.
Kel-Tec P3at, Kahr (forget model) 380, S&W bodyguard, Diamondack DB 380, and Ruger (forget model) 380. And the Taurus costs less than them all. Yes, sights could be better but it's a pocket .380 and they are 100% useable unlike the Kel-Tec. IMHO.
Great little gun. I've had mine for almost three years and it has been my go to pocket carry gun for summer. I've had no problems at all. Very light, compact and reliable. I guess you can actually get additional mags now. At one time those were impossible and selling at high premiums. For me, the one mag I have has been flawless, so I never bought an extra. Price is phenomenal and you can't go too wrong on this. I love mine.
great price. my tcp has been flawless. my lcp cost $100 more and had to go back to the factory twice before it ran as well as the tcp.
I bought one of these a few moths ago. I've owned a few pocket .380's before and have to say this is the best shooting one I've fired by far. Low recoil and very accurate. Sights are very low profile but very usable. Trigger is also excellent, 5 out 5 stars.
An "okay" deal at best. In the past month or so we've seen the TCP being offered for under $200 shipped. Honestly, I don't recall if those deals had free CC processing but that would have only been a $6 difference. As a student on a budget, I'm thrifty when it comes to my guns. I'll wait on this one before I pull the trigger, so to speak.
Great alternative to the LCP. Much better shooter, lighter trigger and cheaper too.
I own this gun. Put 1,000+ rounds through it and it developed a problem with double-feeding. Shipped it to Taurus via UPS to fix. It was shipped back to my doorstep just 6 days later and runs like brand-new again. I would absolutely trust this gun with my life. (And I do, since it's my primary carry gun.)
A lot of people compare this to the Ruger LCP. What kept me away from the Ruger was the slide doesn't lock back after the last shot. That would drive me nuts. When my gun is empty I want to know! The Taurus TCP's slide locks back after the last shot just like a larger gun.
Maybe this is one of their good guns but the simple fact is you will almost always have to send a Taurus in for service. If you don't mind that type of thing maybe this is a gun for you. Personally I would rather not go into my 2 experiences with Taurus. After 3 months I just got my gun back today. They decided to replace it with a brand new one. This may sound like a great deal but the simple fact is this is the second time I have sent a gun in and I really hate having to do that. But hey for the price you could get 2 and have the spare so you can rotate out as they come back from service.
I will never buy another Taurus again. I just don't think they have the kind of quality control that some other companies have.
At least they sent me a new gun that I can sell or trade for something that mixed with a little cash can allow me to get something of better quality.
This is a great handgun. It has a long pull double action trigger (like all pocket guns I've tried), but it's smooth. It also has very little recoil and hits exactly where aimed. I really like this gun (especially for under $200). I like this much better than the Bodyguard (which I traded away after I tried this).
I own one... whatever online hate they get.. i like mine and ive put 300rnds through it without issue
good deal, if its something your looking for jump on it. have ordered several guns from buds with no problems- happy shooting
Thank you to whoever posted this deal. I ordered one yesterday.
