Never dealt with NGOA but it looks like you need a membership to buy? WTF that needs to be in the title cause I don't dick around with "membership" merchants.
The quality on these are hit or miss. I had one and it never ran right. I changed alll the springs which BTW looked like they were picked from a junk pile. And still it ran terribly and inaccurate to a fault. At around 15 meters the point of aim and where the bullet landed was different by around 3 feet...
You can send it back to the company at any given time since they offer a life time warrantee on all they're guns and either they'll fix it for free or give u a new one
That warranty probably covers his 1911 but I think that their new stuff only has a 1 year warranty on it. They were probably losing their shirts on the repair bills.
I own 1 have had it for 4 years have put 2000 rounds down range and never had a problem
I have one and love it. Mine is a few years older but looks the same. Very solid 1911
Is it true about the jams? Was there a "break in period"?
I do. I haven't any problems out of mine I have the stainless one I've put maybe 2500 rounds through it
See Ricardito's cooment from two months ago. That one was sold by Buckshots.
I have the SS version and this is, by far, the worst quality gun I've owned! Even the springs are all uneven and were corroded. Also, the slide had a lot of give side to side...
You Both Are 100% Correct. The Taurus 1911 is an unsung hit in the 1911 world and offers many, many features that other 1911's do not include. Taurus builds a quality and reliable pistol at more than half the price of their chief competitors. I, too, have the Kimbers and Colts, etc, and I trust my Taurus 1911 every bit as much as the other pistols in the stable. Handgun enthusiasts are being offered excellent options from foreign manufacturers, and, these companies from Belgium, Turkey, Brazil, Philippines, and other's have list prices way, way below similarly equipped firearms here in the US. I WANT to buy US made product's, but I also want the best bang for my dollar.
Just curious. Not trying to start some S.....
Have you ever tried getting a foreign handgun repaired ?
Taurus has had mine (not a PT1911) for over 14 months and they basically refuse to fix it or replace it. IMO it's because the gun is out of production and they don't have the parts to fix it. So I'm out $455.00. Dumb me didn't know the gun was out of production when I purchased it. Had it for less than 2 weeks and put less than 200 rounds down the pipe.
Think I'll buy American next time.
Honestly this gun isn't bad, I have a nice Kimber and at 3x the price it doesn't have some of the features of this one. Taurus does not provide the fit and finish of other larger manufacturers, but they perform well, very reliable in my experience, and it's a good base to have tuned into a great gun.
Can this gun be so bad that even at $400 it's not a good deal? Novak sights, front strap checkering, front slide serrations, ambi safety, magwell. Seems like a lot of features for the money.
I also agree. I have this same 1911, and have since around 2005-ish. And it has pleasantly surprised me. I was aware of Taurus's reputation for their auto's, but I figured the 1911 design was around long enough. I have been pleased with its accuracy.
Me too, I chose mine over a Kimber, it was just as accurate and half the price with comparable features.
This is a great deal on this gun. I've had mine for 8 years and put over 2k rounds through it. Only problem I've had was a weak main spring but fixed it for free with a spare spring. Even though people talk crap about Taurus, their 1911s are awesome.
My second PT1911 at a great price. Purchased from SF Armory before, with good communications and easy transaction. Was $399 at grabagun, but they sold out in less than an hour. This is an even better deal!!
The 1911 is blemished or refurbished. Not factory new, product description doesn't mention this. The Heritage .22 is impressive for a "free" gun. It only comes with the .22LR cylinder.
Make it the Heritage 22lr/22wmr and you've got yourself a customer.
Have one in 38 Super. Bought it maybe 8 years ago. It has been as solid as any Colt, Springer, or Kimber I have ever owned. Laser accurate too.
