Love that this Taurus is $400, while the SW1911 just above it is $850... Buy the Taurus, fire it 1,000 rnds/ 1 yr... and if you know enough about the difference, then you can upgrade to the Smith/ Colt/ super-duper what ever at $850+ range.
But, most people are going to go the RV/Motorboat route, where they buy something expensive/cool/neato, use it a ton the first year, less so the 2nd and 3rd... and by the 5th year the RV is parked out front of the house with a flat tire, cobwebs all over it, and feral cats living underneath. So too, with a nice pistol... buy low/inexpensive, or else risk having a $1,000 safe queen after a few years because your interests have cooled...
