Great gun shoots every 9mm ammo out there. I just recommend upgrading the trigger to the short stroke out there makes a huge difference.

If you have to say "once you fix the trigger, this is a great gun", then this is not that great of a gun. It is, however, a decent gun for the price.

I own and carry this gun.. Before you buy I want to let you know everything that is an issue.. First the trigger is trash.. But with an Apex Trigger and springs upgrade the trigger is excellent.. Another issue that is common with this handgun is the slide doesn't always lock back after the last round.. I put in a SS guide rod with a 20lb recoil spring and the slide didn't lock back at all.. With the factory polymer guide rod and 17-18 lb spring it sometimes does and sometimes doesn't.. I think if I go with a lower weight recoil spring it might solve that problem but the heavier springs decrease recoil.. I don't mine because I practice changing mags before I fire the last round.. And finally.. It is advertised as a 16+1 capacity.. The mag does hold 16 rounds but when the 16th round is in it's hard to lock the mag into the gun.. And then that round drags on the slide making it very difficult to pull the slide back.. I fixed that by taking the mag apart and filing down the follower.. That created more room for the 16th round.. It still drags a little but not enough to stop me from racking the gun.. With upgrades this is a very good gun for the price.. As is I would not recommend it but if you are willing to spend a little more (less than $100) to make the upgrades then I would recommend it.

Combat Armory has them for $219.99 w/FreeShipping right now. It's a flash sale, so it may be *very* short lived.

Agree! That same deal has been running here (https://gun.deals/product/smith-wesson-sd9ve-9mm-2-16rd-mags-24999...) for over 2 weeks now. No membership fee and free shipping, good gun after an APEX trigger upgrade.

That is a deal!

I agree add an apex, and some grips and this will be a great gun.

I had this 9mm and later sold it and bought the 40. Mines pretty accurate (was some break in period) but could always be a lemon. I own much "nicer" pistols but it's still one of my favorites. Is the issue precision or accuracy? I've never tried to adjust sights nor know how easy it would be but I hope it works out in the end.

These do not take m&p mags correct? Or do they?

Great value gun for the money. Currently PSA has the mags for $19.99 with free shipping.

I've got an sd40ve that I put an apex trigger kit, SS guide rod, and heavier recoil spring in. Maybe out 70 bucks for everything. I'll put it up against any Glock 40 I've ever shot.

Picked it up but having a hard time with Accuracy. Handed it to 2 buddy's who are great shots and they had a hard time. Feels great and want to love it but I can't hit my target if my life depended on it. Debating the trigger upgrade. Where did you get the ss guide rod?

The new Ruger Security 9 is getting good reviews so I would check that out. Hard to go wrong with a Ruger for the price.

Thanks brother. On my radar. Currently looking for a 7.62 for the wifey. But the River keeps dropping in price so I just might have to pick one up. Tempted

Can't go wrong with ruger. I've got half a dozen and they all shoot well.

The company is called "stainless steel guide rods". Along with the heavier recoil spring it made a world of difference. Before it kicked so hard it would try to jump out of your hand. Now it just pushes backwards.

Pistol is fine. Just shoot it.

For $266, a superb value. If you're a trigger connoisseur then stick to your G19s and your PPQs. If you're short money and need a decent 16 shot 9mm, just buy the thing and don't monkey with the trigger. Rack and dry-fire the stuffing out of the thing and you'll find you're as good as a non-special forces/SWAT guy needs to be.

When the sd series first came out, glock sued and won. Undisclosed amount. S&w retained rights to manufacture. Great pistol. Not great trigger, but that's how it's made. Probably the most pistol for your current dollar(opinion of course).

Seems incorrect. The Sigma series was the basis for the suit and S&w changed the design in certain ways. That was 1997. The SD series came out in 2011. .

Add an Apex Tactical trigger, and this is a great shooter.

Always had great service from SG. I've bought 3 guns and several other items from them. Products always as described, in great shape and arrived very fast. One of my favorite things is their 4xpay plan. Basically you only have to pay 1/4 of your total bill up front and they immediately ship your items (including guns!) Then they let you make 3 more monthly payments. No credit check, etc. Only need a debit or credit card. Makes it a nice way to get that gun you always wanted but the wife wasn't happy about you forking out that much dough at once......where else can you get a deal like that? It's like layaway but you get your stuff on first down payment. Love it. Only thing is it has to be over $150 I think. But again, great company been very happy.

How do you do the 4xpay plan

Don't worry, it will be an option for you. Or if you call them they will ask you if you want to. You just hafta join the club $40 or so can't remember

I'm wondering if Glock's patents are expired. This and so many other pistols are nearly identical inside.

SG has this gun for $256 right now. Great deal, might just pick one up

the grip is horrible, rough, you'll probably want a talon grip or something similar other than that it's very nice.

Just got one of these a month or so ago and am quite impressed with this pistol. Only have 300 rounds through it, but has been flawless so far. I find no issue with the stock trigger and mine was actually quite smooth out of the box. I think people gripe about it because they're just not accustomed to a DA trigger.

Excellent deal on this dandy S&W. I have no issues carrying this firearm and the good part is that it isn't one of my $800.00 HK's that I would have to part with in the event of a self defense issue. This price is below wholesale for about 90 percent of the gun dealers out there. I don't know how a feller could go wrong in the bang for your buck department.

I have one of these with over 2000 rounds through it and not a single problem. I like the trigger as it takes a deliberate effort to fire it rather than a hair trigger. It is very accurate and feels good in the hand. The LE price on these are $290 and up. Great buy and I trust my life with it.

Agreed on the trigger. Its a handsome gun too.

@ $260 shipped this is an incredible deal. A little large for CCW but still an excellent general purpose firearm and a superb first gun. Utterly reliable -- most noobs that shoot it do pretty well with it. Not a gun that most shooters can shoot particularly fast; I wouldn't necessarily recommend it for folks who have a taste for crisp breaks/short resets. IMHO dropping $70 on a trigger kit likely kills the warranty and diminishes the overall value proposition of the thing. Simply buy something else.
