Oh the evil capitalist gun dealer might be able to make a decent profit... and whinny bastards are mad because the price of guns have gone up since the the market bottom.
House prices have also gone up by 50% over the last few years. Are you going to sell yours at a 100,000 under value, or actually make some money on it?
6 months ago I purchased a new mp15 moe sl for less than that...thank you smga.com for the solid deals.
I get supply and demand. But I also remember PSA’s CEO posting videos online (I believe you can still find them) bragging that his goal is to get an AR into every American home at an affordable price. I call BS. It’s ok for the granny you mentioned who has a lifetime of savings to overspend, but for the 18 year old looking for his first AR, no gun for you! PSA used to rule and I really did admire the company. No more. Example 2 - I bought a S&W 2.0 Shield with laser for $329 OTD in the fall of 2018. The “deal” now is $459 plus shipping. That’s typical of what they are doing today when Americans need their guns.
I said it before, I'll say it again. The "deal" is it just being in stock and available to purchase. The prices on everything firearm related are reaching absurdity but considering I was in my local gun store today and a 70+ year old woman comes in behind me and says she's never owned a gun before but with everything going on in the world she is ready to get one, I can't blame retailers for raising prices. What I can blame is some retailers with deep pockets completing buying out all the supply from distributors to create fake scarcity. That is ALSO happening now too, make no mistake about it.
My local gun store doesn't play these games, and that's why I respect them for it. I was just in this weekend, and their Glock 43s were $449, and Glock 19/45s $549.
I just purchased the MP 15 promo bundle from Kentucky Guns for $699 free shipping no tax. Not a bargain at all but sure beats Palmetto since I live in SC and the 749 would cost me $810.00
Things were rough for the firearms industry the last few years. During that time I would expect their margins were much lower as that is what it took to sell some things. Everyone complaining about prices now should have bought then. Now the demand is high and retailers have the opportunity to make more money then the did when times were tough. I'm also sure their costs have increased. Supply and Demand. It is a simple concept.
A 50% price increase in 6 months is rather exorbitant for a firearm, even in panic buying. The sport 2 is a great beginner ar, but it's not worth $750. You can find ruger's (probably considered one of the best budget ar's) for less, and panthers for much less. Fuck, if someone is willing to shell over $750 for mine, please PM. I'll throw in an "optic".
I wouldn't buy at these prices either. I try to buy when prices are cheap and then sit on the sidelines and watch people cry about prices being too high and how they used to be cheaper. They should have bought when things were cheaper!
Glad I don't wait to panic buy and get ripped off by these companies. But.... if you wait to panic buy you kind of deserve what you get.
i have bought many items from palmetto in the past.
I recommended them to many.
Now seeing their price gouging during a tough time in america I would not ever purchase or recommend them ever again.
Screw you palmetto!!
Surprised and pleased this wasn’t downvoted. PSA has a whole department dedicated to trolling unflattering reviews on their website and elsewhere to downvote them. Don’t believe it? Leave a mediocre review on their site and watch. PSA went from #1 on my list to a place I will never buy from, along with Cheaper Than Dirt.
Man Not to long ago the gun.deals sales email had one of these just under $600 in there somewhere. This is alot for the the sport 2. Maybe if they threw in a optic in $160 range
I got mine 3 years ago with Mbus for $569 and I've seen them even cheaper but... ...supply and demand!!! I'm just happy that fence sitters and even some anti-gunners are wising up. but I had the sense to buy my tools and plenty of their food while prices were Low. And I'm happy for the industry.

BPuff, it's not what the market will bear, it's what the public will support.
Good find.
Can you explain how you’re interpreting those two things as different?
All, I’m not defending PSA here. I’m saying that there is a reason why the prices are being driven up: demand outpaces supply. If you were in business to make a profit for yourself, your family, and your employees, you would follow the same principle. Otherwise, you’d lose your business. People here need to start THINKING instead of FEELING.
If you don’t want to buy something at a certain price, that’s fine. If you want to dissuade someone else from making a silly, overpriced purchase, that’s awesome.
We as a community just need to stop all this vendor harassment for pricing things the way they’re priced. Otherwise, we may have vendors deserting this platform who legitimately have GOOD gun.deals. This is an ecosystem. It’s not healthy to assume a vendor’s intent.
I paid less than $600 last year from CDNN. This is a great gun though.
This was a $550 gun two years ago. It’s still a $550 gun today. Stop gouging, Palmetto.
Agree with your first statement. Disagree with your evaluation of worth. Just because you would pay $550 back when you bought it and would only pay the same now doesn’t mean that’s what this rifle is worth. Worth is relative to supply and demand.
If you like to say the value is $550, I’d also disagree with you there. Value is up to the interpretation of the person spending the money.
All that said. I’m in the same boat with you. I wouldn’t personally pay more than $600 out the door for this rifle. But I have rifles. And I don’t need this one.
This gun is $489 and still is worth $489. Suppose you also over paid for your house and over MSRP for your car. As they say a fool and his money are soon parted. But hey supply and demand right, nevemind they are worth substantially less then what you paid for them.
We could debate the semantics of the wording, but you are absolutely correct about paying foolish prices for things. Unfortunately, someone who is unwise didn’t realize this was a necessity to protect their life until the prices were this high. Sucks to be them.
Considering I paid $599 for this gun a month and a half ago from Sportsman's Outdoor Superstore, which included a crimson trace red/green dot and carrying bag, I'd say this is at minimum, not a deal. They have it now, no longer on sale, with iron sights for $729, with a different handguard.
Absolutely agree with you there. But that was during the Rona panic. We’re now at the “Antifa and BLM Riots” panic. Next is the November election panic. Like you’re seeing right now, prices for this will continue to rise.
PSA has become a typical dog-shit merchandiser, sub-par, and over-priced, same as many others.
