I bought this in spring of 2019 and just got around to shooting it over the weekend. WOW, what a fun gun to shoot. It shoots low out of the box and definitely took a little breaking in. After about 50 rounds it ran flawless and was unspeakable fun. Buying a bunch more mags for it now. Anyone have any info on higher cap mags?
Damn... Hell of a deal. Too bad they sold out, maybe next time
this is a decent price for this little .22. as low as I have seen it in awhile.
This same model is $280 shipped on Gunbuyer.com. I ended up picking up the deal at Palmetto State yesterday for $287 shipped. This also has a threaded barrel, but it is internal. The one from PSA already has the adapter included.
Palmetto has a better deal with a threaded barrel.
Not a deal, Gunbuyer has it for $50 less:

Gunbuyer.com is selling for $279 delivered and no credit card fee.
Gunbuyer price is a great deal....
For those that have used them before, are they good to deal with?
I have the full sized 12rd version and I love it. It feels nice and shoots great. But my wife has the SR22 and it as well is a great gun. I think the fit and finish goes to the SR22, very well made solid gun and fun to shoot. But I have large hands and looks like a toy in my hand where as the M&P is a full size and holds 2 more rounds. Both guns shoot everything but both guns had some FTE's and light loads from Winchester 333 box. I recommend both but choose the one that best fits your hand, you can't go wrong with either. The M&P compact is very very close to the same size as the SR22 FYI.
I handled one at the gun show last weekend: really nice feel, weight, looks. $299 is a good price right now.
Got this a few months ago. Great little shooter. It's become the sidearm I grab most often when hunting. More reliable than any of the other semi-auto .22 handguns I have played with. Very accurate as well.
How about this versus ruger SR-22? which would you go with?
I've shot the SR22 and it's a fine gun. But from what I've read about this M&P which is actually made by S&W (as opposed to the full size which is made by Umarex on contract to Walther) is not the same gun as the full size. Very nice build quality and very reliable for a 22 semi auto. I have yet to have any failures after 700-800 rounds of CCI. I do get failures with some of the cheaper ammo, but still not that bad. Easy take down as well.
But you wouldn't go wrong with either the SR22 or the M&P. Both are fine guns but this one has the slight advantage of having a threaded barrel. Couple that with the fact that all my friends already have SR22's and it was a no brainer for me.
Dirtman, are you saying S&W contracted the full-size M&P22 out to Walther who in turn contracted it out to Umarex? If you are can you provide a link indicating Umarex's involvement? Thank you.
Smith and Wesson's website shows both models. The full size in the description says manufactured by Walther.
Yes, I know. But where is the connection to Umarex?
I'd go with the full-size, 12-round M&P.
Worlds most annoying safety on this gun, but it can be cut out simple enough. I left the right-hand safety intact. Now it actually feels good in the hands.
