Call me "old school" but I simply cannot get over the "lemon squeezer" style grip safety on this model. My question is why? With all the other safeties and options would S&W Choose to use this very odd style of "Safety" for this pistol? I assume they are trying to capitalize on the novelty of such a design. But again, personally I believe they missed the mark with this pistol. With the standard, well proven track record of other safeties over the years the should of left it alone and used the standard mechanisms....
Ps this is my own personal experience and opinion. As always this is my personal opinion and you are entitled to yours.. I willd.not disrespect that and ask you do the same for me. Thanks!

It’s intended for persons with reduced hand strength and has an easier to rack slide. The grip safety makes the manufacturer more comfortable with issuing a lighter trigger. It’s appropriately sized for 380, unlike the nearly unusable LCP/Bodyguard* genera. And for anyone unsatisfied with that cartridge’s terminal ballistics, check out Lehigh; some of their offerings absolutely f¥ck. It should be the number one pick when buying for older or smaller relatives and was designed as such.

*I have an LCPII and perform nearly as well with it as my issued pistol, but most people I bring to the range find it difficult.

It's quite simple.
Anyone who chooses a 380 as a defense cartridge is not going to be an educated or skilled shooter.
So, to counteract that disparity they installed a device to force said shooter to maintain a firm grip both for control and to prevent 'limp wristing' misfires.
IOW, it's for, and aimed at, the inept.
John Browning, brilliant engineer, knew that the generic WWI soldier was not in general a skilled pistol shooter, so he forced them to grip firmly with a grip safety on the 1911.
HK's beginner P7 does the same in reverse, it's in front of the grip, still forcing a tight hold on the pistol.
And so on and so on, et al.
