Description

These small revolvers, the Smith and Wesson Model 642 .38 SPCL, were designed to fire full power rounds and are as simple and easy to use as they are reliable. One of the most powerful and compact concealed carry revolvers on the market. At only 14.4 oz and 6.3 inches in overall length it doesn't get much more compact. Even in it's compact size, the Model 642 compromises nothing with a 5 round capacity.
Stainless Steel barrel and cylinder construction creates extreme durability and the aluminum frame cuts down on overall weight. The synthetic grip gives greater comfort and reduces felt recoil better than a wooden grip. Chambered in 38 Special with the option to use +P ammo, The Smith and Wesson Model 642 may just be the perfect concealed carry revolver.

An industry leader since 1852, Smith & Wesson is one of the world's largest firearms manufacturers. With the release of the Volcanic pistol, the first American firearm capable of firing a fully self-contained cartridge, S&W cemented their name in history as an innovative firearms manufacturer. Through the years they continued to bring new designs loved by civilians, police, and military, eventually leading to their highly popular, striker fired M&P pistols. The variety of firearms from concealed handguns to precision bolt action rifles combined with S&W’s unmatched reliability and history are the reason they stand out from the crowd.

Had PC version and trigger sucked. Base shrouded hammer version had a better trigger. These could be had for $350 or less before C19

S&W doesn't need my help, but I thought I'd share my experience with these.

I have several 642/442 pistols; each had a horrendous trigger out of the box. Each one was treated to some smoothing of the internal mechanism (great video on youtube; look for "Yoda G Mod" posted by NUTNFANCY), and a Wilson spring kit. After that, they're completely different pistols, and shoot wonderfully.

I did not run hundreds of rounds through them to see if the trigger mechanism smoothed out on its own; I just did the polish & springs straightaway.

These are probably one of the best deals out there in revolvers. They're relatively cheap, very well made, and shoot very well. I have a model 60 I love, but can't deny the smooth draw of these hammerless little critters.

YMMV.
