The S&W 4006TSW 3rd generation features an accessory rail integrated into the frame as opposed to a mounted rail used in previous generations. These also have novak style sights. Both of these features were made for the California Highway Patrol. These guns feature a CHP prefixed serial number.

Good price, but I bought a Sign 226 from these guys that didn't work, and they refused to make it right. So, as always, buyer beware.

My experience with these in 9 are jam-o-matic. Sold and never looked back. YMMV. They're priced pretty high for what you get.
Nice quality gun and a soft shooter for a .40. Slide is smooth as butter (most of today's guns can only wish they were this well made). The Hogue rubber wrap-around grip that CDNN puts on these is huge. I got mine and immediately ordered a stock S&W grip from Brownells for like $19. Now it fits my had perfectly (and makes the gun look brand new.). FYI: Both the 4006 and the 5906 (9mm version) have the same grip/frame size and use the exact same grips. So if you like the feel of your S&W 5906 you will like this one.
I picked up one of these. Needed a good cleaning. The mag was pretty difficult to load past about 6 rounds. The 11th is nearly impossible but you can get it in. Had some expected wear but still quite good condition. I don't understand the thinking with the huge grip. I have large hands and I can not reach the mag release or slide release. I guess it takes 2 hands to operate? Shoots well but I wouldn't switch my M&Ps for it. I'd say I like it a little more for its history than its actual shootability.

i dont understand why these are so high. i do not feel like they have any "collector" appeal.
these should be no more then 250 to 300. i sitll want one. but i cant bring myself to pay that much for a gamble on the condition.
also i have bought several items from cdnn. and i can say that they always rate their used items in much better condition than they really are.
i have sent tons of used mags back that were suppose to be in "good to very good condition" except the ones i got had bad springs and bad base plates and bad followers. so much for good to vg. lol
Reading some of the reviews. Guy who had feeding issues these sometimes need spring kits. They are SURPLUS guns after all. I bought mine from a different reseller. It came in vg condition with 3 magazines. I know business is business, but it seems that a lot of resellers are taking excess magazines from original shipping boxes and reselling them seperately. I typically will not do business with this type of reseller. That being said mine was a magnificent specimen. Came with the chp officers first name on one of the mags. Lara kept her firearm in pristine condition. Thank you!
