Why can't these people read? FREE SHIPPING? NO! Coupon "SH2152" for Free S/H over $75 (Excludes Firearms & Ammo). Good deal but not good when they tack on $15-$20 for S/H.

I don't understand all the hate for SG. Yeah you pay $39.99 for the year, but make it back ten fold in club discounts and all the free shipping. So what's the big deal? I shoot on a weekly basis and easily buy 6,000+ rounds a year. I'm constantly searching the web for the lowest price per round and best shipping deals. I routinely find myself returning to SG. Stop being such broke asses and enjoy the deals!

Right? I just HATE how they have free shipping on $50 orders. I would much rather pay $20-$50 EXTRA for shipping.

REALLY??? Every order I have place came in in a timely manor. Well packed (usually double boxed). I received a 6 month free subscription for their club. I may even renew if I don't buy enough ammo in 6 months.

Sportsman's guide is the best. I've ordered so much from them. Guns, Ammo, surplus, optics... great prices, free shipping, and don't get me started on their 4 payment plan...

I just bought an AR with their 4 pay. But in 20 days, called them and had them charge the rest to the CC so I could get it paid off. Never ever had to wait on hold. Great CS.

Our club members have been using this for years and not a problem. It will consistently work out to 400-500 yards, and has not broke or worn out a single rife to date. Only if your into mag dumping all day do you have a worry.

FWIW I've been having a lot of issue with Wolf 223 primers lately. Have multiple orders from different suppliers and I'd say I have 2-3 failure to fires with struck primers (per 30 round mag). Maybe bad luck, but I'm leaning towards quality control issues trying to keep up with demand

Not bad SHTF ammo to store away just in case. Good chance if you are using your AR in that scenario losing a bit of long range accuracy won't make much of a difference.

Very poor choice for SHTF. One of the worst choices as a matter of fact. This is plinking ammo.

Wrong! Very good ammo to stock pile.

I disagree. It's damn good ammo for SHTF, plinking, and just about any application. I've been running this through 5.56 ak's for the better part of 5 years and have had zero problems. Just because it doesn't have a fat price tag doesn't make it cheap.

Why do you say that? I have never used Wolf but I find Tula to be extremely reliable. I think a lot of people would rather have quantity over quality in a SHTF situation. Do these not store well or something?

5 votes
0 votes

It might be pretty reliable, but there's ammo that's more reliable, with higher velocity, and expands better. In a life-threatening situation, I plan on using good ammo. Practice ammo for practice. Good ammo for hunting and self defense.

In my mind during a SHTF situation (long term) bulk ammo cashes will more than likely go to either hunting or trading as opposed to fighting opposing forces. Living on the mainland if we were to be occupied by a enemy (foreign or domestic) fighting would be much more effective using guerrilla tactics as opposed to traditional warfare with guns and bullets. I obviously can't see the future so your opinion is as good as mind.

If your AR wont reliably fire this ammo you bought the wrong AR. I buy strictly PSA and have NEVER had a problem with any .223 or 5.56 ammo.

price bump of $5 I see.

Terrible terrible ammo. Jams in chambers, had to use a ramrod to get it to open. When it does fit on some of my ar's, it won't cycle any. Yet older Wolff 55 grain fmj cycles just fine.

Is it the bi-metal bullet itself that wears barrels out quick or the powder ? I seen the luckygunner test where the steel cased ammo barrels had no groves left in the barrel.

If you shoot 5,000 rounds down the barrel of a AR with steel case ammo (Like the luckygunner test) you can buy an entire new upper with the money you saved over brass.

This is a deal. I don't shoot steel ammo in my guns, but 25c a round for .223 is damn cheap.

I Like this deal , but I have had this shit jam in my chamber and had to be bench vised and popped out . Was a new upper at the time , need more rounds through it to check how reliable . I like the price for the cartridge specs though !!

The M855 ban has kicked off another panicked buying spree, incidentally causing short supply and high prices of 55gr plinking ammo (economics: see substitute goods). I'm buying this now ($123.49/500) to hedge against future prices. I can't find brass ammo for less than $0.38/round presently.

OMG, I better rush to buy dirty ass 223 ammo because the yard ape is going to ban all AR ammo. Said no one ever. You clowns buying all this crap up are feeding the fire. Ya'll just need to chill out and carry on. My ou should have already stocked up several years ago, like 2010 when ammo prices were low. It's like the stock market people. Freaking pay attention and stop being part of the problem.

a better way of saying it would be, "oloser is a POS that is hell bent on taking our rights away and if he's not successful the HILDABEAST WILL BE.
THATS Y WE MUST ALL STICK TOGETHER AT THIS NEXT ELECTION (THE MOST IMPORTANT IN THE HX OF FREEDOM FOR CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHTS LIKE THE SECOND AMENDMENT).

WHOMEVER THE REPUBLICAN CANDIDATE IS: CRUZ, TRUMP OR WHOMEVER. GET UR FRIENDS, UR FAMILY, UR TEACHERS, UR PARENTS AND GET THEM ALL TO VOTE AGAINST THIS TYRANNY THAT IS BEING FORCED DOWN THE THROATS OF THE AMERICAN PEOPLE.

STOP THE HILDABEAST; SAVE LIBERTY; SAVE THE SECOND AMENDMENT FOR FUTURE GENERATIONS. VOTE FOR A REPUBLICAN IN THE WHITEHOUSE. IF WE ALL DONT STICK TOGETHER, THE DAYS OF BUYING SPORTSMANS SEMI AUTOMATIC RIFLES WILL BE GONE FOR EVER!!!

I don't think it was meant to be "racist" just descriptive towards that pos that is ruining the country who is also half White. I don't think you could say anything about him that I would find offensive unless you started complimenting him.

I think you are right it was not “meant” to be racist because the poster feels their statement is factual. Hard to take an argument seriously (like ‘don’t hoard because the sky is not falling’) when someone mixes in racism, conspiracy theories, or UFO abductions.

how about spending few extra cents per round for wolf gold? don't get me wrong, I love steel case if brass costs way more

I'd like to spread the word that Russian ammo will kill your barrel. The problem is not the casing, it's about the bullet itself. It's not copper only, it's a steel copper blend that is much harsher on your barrel. If you shoot a lot, you'll have a smooth bore in a jiffy. If you're into accuracy, expect it to diminish gradually if you use any Russian ammo. There's the best article on Ammo I could find. I will never again buy Russian ammo. http://www.luckygunner.com/labs/brass-vs-steel-cased-ammo/...

The amount of money saved by shooting cheaper ammo, will allow you to buy 2 barrels..... so it really is not a big deal.!

That has always been my theory too. I love when someone tells you that after X1000 rounds steel will wear out your extractor….after I saved 500+ dollars on ammo I can afford a 20 dollar extractor, a new barrel, a BCG, etc…maybe even a pistol with all the extra money! God forbid my groups at open up a half-MOA.

Should have paid the extra 50 bucks for chrome lining on the barrel, its harder than steel so the rifling wears out slower.
