"...by famous Stack-On"
Who tries to leech reputation off snap-on.

"Bank-vault security"
But it only weighs 27lbs?

Almost everything stack-on makes is junk.

Homak makes a similar cabinet and theirs is very solid.

Got 2 for extra storage. DON'T. corners were all dented in and locks didn't work, both of them, packing tape looked OLD and yellowed these were found in storage? When Walmart does a sale, the quality rhymes with rap. Both times I've bought walmart stuff that was well discounted online, it's been banged up stuff no good. Not a deal, not slick, just offloading their old junk onto unsuspecting netizens. Never again Walmart - NEVER AGAIN.

This isn't a safe. This is an ad that says "Come steal my guns, they are in this aluminum can"

Shipping & Quality Issues:

Ordered this a few weeks ago. There are issues with the way Walmart ships. Corners were bent on my product (can be easily fixed, but for a new product, shouldn't have to be.) They also ship it without a box around the packaging. So for those concerned about who may see this when it's delivered to your house, know that the product store packaging will be visible.

Also, don't expect this be a high security safe. For the price, it will do as a means to keep kids out, but wouldn't do much good against theft. Installed in a closet with a mirror over it would be the safest bet.

It's $72 right now, so this comment is a bookmark for when it sells for less.

Just one more thing to consider:

This cabinet is (by design) very, very shallow. It has to be to fit where it is supposed to fit.

With that in mind, whatever long gun(s) you are planning to put inside will need to be appropriately 'thin'. A stripped shotgun, or basic rifle fit without a problem. Where it gets tricky is accessorized long-guns.

If you have a side-mounted light on an AR or shotgun you may need to get creative.

Worse, on the side where the locking mechanism is, you are losing that much more space. I have a basic AR on that side and the locking bar just barely touches the hand guard when closing the unit.

Don't get me wrong. This works fine, and I do use mine (and really enjoyed coming up with a creative way to hide it). That said, you need to keep in mind what you are putting in there, and how wide it is, particularly on the locking side.

Sophisticated designed for long guns.. this looks a cabinet that needs to insert inside the wall, right. Any cabinet with doors style exactly this one at Wall Mounted Sliding door http://staging.caldwells.com/products/doors-by-type/sliding-doors/.

This deal keeps changing in price, and keeping all of the thumbs up. How are we supposed to know if someone is giving a thumbs up because it's $63 today, and then tomorrow it changes to $73 and it's no longer a "thumbs up" deal?

Just a word of warning. Read the reviews for shipping damage. A fair portion of those that have responded have had a bent corner due to improper handling (or better put, poor packaging and handling) of these units. My first one was bent, sent it back, got another, bent of a different corner. I just banged that one out and repainted it.

Ordered another one later for a different room, bent again. Bang out, repaint.

For the money, you can't beat this.
No, it isn't fireproof, etc. (It's $69, duh).
But it's a great locking cabinet that tucks between your studs. That's why it doesn't hold much, it's the depth of your wall and the width of your studs.
To me it's a great value and unless someone wants to spend a bit of time (with a crowbar, etc.) to get into it, it's plenty secure.
Hell, it's from wal-mart, if you don't like it take it back.

I have this. Use it to store air rifles so kids can't get to them. Saves space in the safe for real guns. Aswith any cabinet his won't stop a burglar for long. I mounted it in closet behind clothes. Pretty easy install. Can't tell it's there unless you look for it. When they say it fits 2 long guns they mean it, barely. Got it for same price and I'm satisfied.

I'm wondering how this fits into the wall. According to the measurements it wouldn't fit between any walls using US standard building specs. Most interior walls are 2"x4" on 16" centers, which makes the wall opening cavity 14.5" wide by 3.5" deep without counting the Sheetrock, but even with the Sheetrock the depth is only 4" so the safe would stick out 3/4". It would fit in 2"x6" wall construction on 24" centers with a wall cavity of 22.5" wide x 5.25"-5.5" deep, but most homes don't have 2"x6" interior walls & installing on an outside wall isn't practical because it would require removal of the insulation for the safe to fit.

So can you explain how & where yours was installed, what your wall measurements are & how far does the unit stick out from the Sheetrock wall.

Thanks in advance

You may need to add some shim materials on the sides to properly 'fit' the cabinet. I doesn't really stick out from the front, maybe a quarter inch away from the wall. The sides overlap a few inches on both sides.

Fits fine between standard studs spacing. The width is actually 14". I never measured the depth but it fit fine in a 2x4 wall. . I put one in last weekend. I'm happy with it. I put it in a closet with a long coat in front of it. You can see about 4" of the bottom of it. But I'll likely go pick up a longer coat at Goodwill to cover it completely.

Its 14 1/2 wide at the part that goes between the studs and only 3 1/2 deep. Just open up the wall space next to one stud and then get creative at adding enough 2x4 pieces to give yourself a framed box 14 1/2 wide. Its certainly not burgler proof but will give you piece of mind about the grandkids accidently getting a hold of your guns while still giving you easy access.
