Springfield XDS-45 Features
Superior design features give the Springfield XD-S™ capabilities that not all pistols of its size can claim. Making the XD-S™ easy and comfortable to fire is one the highest priorities of the XD® line. Many characteristics of the XD-S™ model are especially beneficial to those with a concealed carry license, like the less bulky frame and ability to customize the grip.
- Ultra Safety Assurance (USA) Trigger System™: The USA Trigger System™ guards against accidental discharge, from dropping or bumping it, by locking the trigger in place until direct rearward pressure is applied.
- Loaded Chamber Indicator: The Loaded Chamber Indicator allows the shooter to verify without a doubt, visually or by touch, that there is a round in the chamber.
- Picatinny Rail System: A single-position Picatinny rail readily accepts lights, lasers or other pistol accessories. It is one of the only polymer pistols of this size that has this feature, which makes it an easy reach for the light or laser of your choice.
- Snag Free Sights: The rear sight on the XD-S™ is low-profile and holster friendly. Easier and faster target acquisition is achieved with a fiber optic front sight.
- Secure Grip Texture: The “all-terrain” look of the XD(M)® has proven to work so well that the texture has been enhanced for the XD-S™ with an even more pronounced texture to ensure your grip is always secure.
- Mould-Tru Backstraps: With two interchangeable backstraps, Springfield Armory® has stayed true to their focus on providing the user with the most comfortable, and easy to point pistol possible by allowing you to custom fit your grip.
- Melonite® Finish and Carrying Case: To preserve the safety and quality of your pistol, Springfield added a Melonite® finish on all XD® models for a deep penetrating finish that protects against corrosion. Also, the rugged case you get is as durable as the XD-S™ it carries.

This is a fantastic deal! I went ahead and picked one up and love it. It shipped same day and arrived at my FFL 24hrs later. Can't say enough good things about the guys at Firearmsforsale.com. Great prices and great service.

If you don't need/want the talon grips, use coupon 15-save to get $15 off, but it drops the talon grips. $445 shipped is lowest I have ever seen on an XDS though.

Edit...

Talon grips were in the box for $445 shipped with coupon code 15-save! Best deal I've seen to date.

i own these in both 45 and 9mm ...why both because i couldnt make up my mind.. the grip tape is a huge improvement for me .. but what i feel is a must for anyone with a real man sized hand is the extended grip mags..a must have for the piece of mind of a secure grip.

They have extended mags from Springfield that make it 7+ 1 and don't add a ton of length to the grip. They are pricey though. Just something to check out. Also Crimson Trace has a cool red laser and holster combo for this gun. Leave the 5 round in my gun and a 7 round in my other pocket.

This is my EDC and I highly recommend it. Approaching 1000 rounds, I've had zero failures of any kind with the stock 5-round mags. I own a few of those and they've been flawless. I also own a few of the 7-round mags and every one of them has been failure-prone, consistently. I rarely get through a full mag without a failure, using multiple brands of premium ammo (Fed HST, Speer GD, Win Ranger, Rem GS, as well as plainjane WinWhite and RemYellow). I've had my pistol into Springfield once for service and included the mags, asked them to take a look, and they said they were fine. I've tried adjusting my grip. I've tried removing any pressure from the grip extension as a test, but they consistently fail.

TLDR: excellent pistol with stock mags, ridiculously unreliable with 7-round extended mags.

I just have a hard time carrying a gun with only "5+1" rounds in it. They can go so damn fast.

It must be a taste of what living in California is like.

Did Springfield resolve all of the recall issues with these XDS pistols?

Yes, the new ones are GTG. Any old ones that need the fix are handled free of charge. It was a very unlikely accidental discharge scenario, but obviously not something to be ignored. The fix adds a roll pin to the grip safety.

SOSS seems to get these in on a regular basis. Wait a little while and they'll be back in stock.
Got my xds .45 from them back in April. Same $510 price. They never got into the price gouging.
Plus they have Syrena doing the phone orders. Patient, kind, willing to go the extra mile for you. I hope SOSS understands what a huge asset she is to their company.
One of my favorite sites.

Have they fixed the FTF issues yet?

There was never any FTF malfunction with the XD-S, there was the potential for a double-fire if the pistol was loaded without the grip safety being depressed; but never a FTF. As a matter of fact, mine has been 100% reliable exactly as every other XD product I own. I could not even replicate the issue and have yet to send mine back for the recall. I just shot it last Sunday and it's still operating perfectly, and I would trust my life to this handgun!

I agree 100%, this has been my carry piece of choice for over a year, shoot it often and have never had a single issue period. I too have yet to send mine in for the recall work simply because i don't want to carry anything else.

Great Deal. I had to pull the trigger on this one. No CC fees, shipping or Tax. A lot lower on here than local dealers.

Even cheaper than the 9mm version...tempting.

Every not and then you can get the 9mm version of the sub-compact (with 13rd and 16rd extended magazines) for $409.99 shipped (not sure about State tax...).

Sportsman had them in stock for $510 today. At least it was listed as In Stock. When I tried to put one in my cart, it said sold out.
And what is the point of In Stock email notification if they sell out before they send out the emails?
Very frustrated.

Listed as In Stock on the page and then Sold Out when I put one in my cart. Very frustrating.
And what is the point of In Stock email notification if they are gone before they email you??

Update

I called Sportsman's yesterday to ask them why they send the Back In Stock email notifications AFTER the gun has been sold out for hours. Got voicemail.
This morning, I get a call from a girl named Syrena telling me she got my message, called down to the warehouse, and they found one last XDs. I can have it for the $509.99. She stashed it in her office waiting for my return phone call.
What a nice girl. Big tip of the hat to Syrena at Sportsman's!

I have spoken with her as well, very friendly. I did inquire about some special orders which she never got back to me on but other than that all good.

such a site... does not even have a spec for this gun.

My order went through, but I'm wondering if it was really in stock when I did it, because it was immediately out of stock after. Does anyone have experience with the store on how long it takes them to get more stock in if my order was indeed based on an inventory glitch? They're closed on Mondays, so I can't verify it with them yet.

I doubt there was any glitch. You probably got the last one. I'm sure they only had a few and I bought one before I even posted the deal. If you received an order number you should be good. I have bought several firearms from these guys and they have been top notch. Have always shipped within a day or two. One thing though is they never send a shipping confirmation email. You can get tracking info using the link at the bottom of your order email. The have shipped Fedex ground on all of my previous purchases. Congrats on the XDS.

It concerned me because at first it DID say I tried to add too many to my cart when trying to go through checkout, but it also seemed to want me to be logged in, so I logged in and then tried adding it and that time it worked.

I contacted the company this morning, and I was told that it did go through and they would be shipping it out. I just received an email with the tracking number, so maybe my FFL guy will have it late this week or early next week, depending on when they actually ship it.

I'm hoping I like it! I am comfortable with my 9mm SIG, and ok with my Ruger LCP, but this is my first Springfield (although my boyfriend has one) and my first 45 ACP - which while the ammo may be expensive, at least I can find it, and don't need to hoard it like I do my 9mm.

Been waiting for this to come back in stock. I picked up one. I hope I like it as much as I like my Springfield XDM 9mm compact. This is my 3rd purchase from these guys. Their prices are hard to beat and the free and fast shipping is an added bonus. I need to find some reasonably priced ammo now.. lol. Cant wait for it to arrive.
