Is this really a better price? just less included in the package. Used to get a paddle holster and a mag holder.

I'd say so, for me at least. Saving $70 on a holster and mag pouch I have no use for is enough for me to consider this version. Opinions will vary though.

The default XD-Gear holster is usable, but it's cheap and not something I'd use much. The mag pouch is kinda useless. I've owned two XD pistols and the pouch always ended up sitting in their boxes. They're not worth $70, going without them for a better price is a good move. I'm aiming to pick up an XDS and a XD Tactical Mod 2 later this year, but I'm waiting to see if Springfield does another awesome rebate package like they've done the last couple years.

Damn, if I didn't recently get a Shield, I would have gotten this for just a tiny bit more. Did not want to pay extra for a holster and mag pouch I would not use, so this is perfect for me at least.

Well, I ended up purchasing this XDS9 finally. Sold my Shield to a friend. Very happy with my purchase. I love the case it comes in. Very compact. No more pointless holster/mag pouch/oversized case. Comes with a 7 round and 8 round magazine. Got the 9 round mag afterwards, giving me all 3 capacities.

That Shield will never give you any regrets. I love mine.
I am considering grabbing one of these too.

This is an excellent price for a good gun. However, I strongly recommend that you check out the Berretta Nano, M&P Shield, XD SC, CZ Rami BD and SIG P938 among other subcompacts. I traded my XDS for a SIG P938 and couldn’t be happier. The SIG P938 is an excellent gun for CCW and great shooter for just a few dollars more ($499 plus shipping on sale). The XDS just didn’t do it for me, never felt comfortable shooting it.
