Description

Begins shipping in late May-June.

The brand new Springfield XD-E 9mm is the first pistol in the XD-Series to feature a DA/SA action. It's only slightly larger than the popular XDS pistols, but still small enough to be concealed as an everyday carry pistol. The grip on the new XD-E pistol also features Springfield's proprietary, and highly optimized GripZone® texture, which helps to improve handling and accuracy.

How dumb can a company be? They should've gotten rid of that grip zone crap a month after they first introduced the mod 2. Don't like companies that don't listen to customers

I *want* to like Springfield... I really do. However:

    (1) the whole Illinois anti-gun legislation thing
    (2) they bought the rights to the "Springfield Armory" name and then pretend like they somehow have something to do with the old original SA ("the oldest name in American firearms"). It would be like if an airline start up bough the rights to the Wright Brothers name and started claiming to be the original airplane manufacturer.
    (3) For a company that talks about being "American" so much, they sure use a lot of foreign stuff. Croatian pistols (that used to be dirt cheap before Springfield started stamping their name on them), Brazilian frames, etc., etc. The XD line says "SPRINGFIELD ARMORY U.S.A" in giant letters across the slide and then in tiny letters on the frame it says "made in croatia" (probably only because they are required to say so).
    (4) Their marketing department is on drugs. Seriously... the "Saint" campaign was a joke. Stamping "GRIP ZONE" on the frame? Ridiculous. And then there is the TRP 1911... as if you didn't know the T stands for "tactical", they stamp the word "tactical" right on the dust cover, and they put "TRP" on both sides. And if you get one with a rail... you also get to the "OPERATOR" billboard on the side of the slide.

Like I said, I want to like SA. I just can't. Oh well. There are plenty of people who are still buying them regardless so I don't think it matters much what a few people on the internet are complaining about.

Hi-points are made in Ohio, do you like those any better? I’m sick of you trolls spreading nonsense about Springfield because you got your little 2nd amendment feelings hurt. I have several handguns, VP9, PPS M2, SR1911, Shield 45, Bodyguard and a XD mod.2. I also owned a P320 compact for a very short time but the XD mod.2 was superior in every way possible for less money.

Aside from all the Springfield bashing....
It's longer, wider, thicker, and heavier than a Shield. While the Shield does 8+1 for capacity, this one can do 9+1. However, 25 ounces unloaded? EEK! Price is also higher than a Shield. Of course, if you want a hammer-fired gun, then you have many fewer choices than with a striker-fired.

Da**. I was hoping someone would come out with a 9MM like this one, a cross between my M&P Shield and my CZ P01, (Triple threat - SA/DA and it's most dangerous method of operation, CLUB Action - solid steel, weighs a ton). But after reading the comments on Springfield Armories support to the Illinois act, doing some checking of my one and discovered they blamed a trade association, IFMA, for acting without their knowledge - even though, according to a post in Guns.com "For those few that may not know IFMA was created by SA and RRA, funded by them and they were the only clients of IFMA.

IRS form 990 list 4 people associated with the lobbying firm, Dennis Reese CEO of SA, Tom Reese, Co-Chairman of the Board for SA , Chuck Larson, Co-Owner of RRA and Jay Keller the lobbyist,"

I will have to pass on this one.

The reason the Liberal WIN is because they stand united.

Reminder that Springfield recently got caught siding with the gun grabbers.

I like it, if only it didn't say grip one and was cheaper.

Ouch SF you are in the time out corner right now and the memory is too fresh from Illinois for me to be buying your new offering. I will try to get one off the used market..... After I get my new Walther PPS m2.

If you forget where or how you are supposed to grab the pistol there is a nice reminder that says "grip zone"

Yep. Also has the name of the maker on the side in case you forget that too.

Oh goodie another chance to say..Do Not Buy this crap from a crap company that sold their soul to the gun hating crooked Illinois Democrats. Springfield Armory and Rock River Arms go rot in hell!

Agreed...I'll refuse to buy one of their guns for the next 5 years. I'll stick to my p01... It remind me of a beginner basketball telling you where to put your hands

I really want to like this gun..pretty much exactly what I was looking for CC. Hopefully my local gun shop has one on hand cause I'd like to feel it. I heard the trigger is a bit heavy.

If you can wait, I am sure they will drop in price, like most firearms do. I wonder if they are going to make a larger one with a double stack. I have gotten so used to my Glock 21 and my Springfield XDM and my two XD Mod 2s that I couldn't get used to a hammer and a safety again. If they ever make a full sized 45 with a double stack mag, I will probably have to buy one to add to my collection.
