I bought this pistol in February. Took it to the range twice and put a total of 400 rds through it and wasn't satisfied. Put a complete 10.5 upper on it from HA for under $180, zeroed it at 36 yds, added a light and laser, and now It is a far better shooting gun- even out to 400 yds. Not to mention the rail space I was missing from the original hand guard. This gun as-is is unreliable, and definitely won't hit anything past 150 yds on a good day.

build better one cheaper? a good barrel, bcg and rail is about $350 or more, then you need a upper receiver $100. lower receiver complete is atleast $250, may be cheaper if you buy a stripped one. then you need a brace, charging handle etc I dont see making one for alot cheaper

Any idea when it will be back in stock?

If you’re on here to say you can build an AR pistol cheaper, you obviously like this one but can’t afford it so you trash it. If you build a pistol with similar components, you’re paying as much with no warranty and a hodgepodge if cheap components.

You can build an AR pistol for cheaper.
AND FYI, the muzzle nut may be too far into the handguard accommodate an easy suppressor fit when you're done with the prop currently hanging off the end.

Wow! The haters on here must have nothing else to do but troll and post negative comments about a top gunmaker or they are just stupid. Whether or not this is worth $800, it is a good looking gun. But I agree with this short barrel, you would be much better getting a 9mm Sig and pay a little more. Too bad Springfield is in a screwed up gun state. They should move down south.

Nice pistol but I agree with others for a lot less than $800 one can put together a really nice pistol. And for me since I was able to purchase Sig braces for $12 when they were liquidating the pink ones, i am able to put together a similar pistol that will likely perform the same for around $400. I just paint the pink Sig braces black or other colors with special spray paint designed to stick to plastic.

Let me hear this build for alot less then $800. Parts list?

And it would still be a hodge podge of components. Springfield warrants their products for life. I have used their warranty and their customer service is second to none. If it breaks, they fix it. Period. If you want to rock a spray painted sig brace, have at it. I'm buying one of these ready to rock.

Why did they go with a 7.5 instead of 10"??

    2 votes
    0 votes

    I wouldn't waste time on a 5.56 with a barrel shorter than 11.5".
-Much lower velocity (might as well buy a pistol caliber carbine)
    -A lot louder
    -Huge muzzle flash
-Wears out suppressors much faster and most suppressor companies will not warranty a suppressor used with a barrel shorter than 11.5"
    -Bore pressure exceeds 5.56 rating
    -More recoil

So, when they try to come take mine.

    They better bring their's!

Hi-Point carbines are actually very well made (made in USA) and you can't beat the lifetime warranty. If you want an inexpensive carbine for about $250 new there is nothing that can compete. You can easily resell a used one for $300-$350 because so many people don't realize they can buy em' new for $250 online.

    This thing has great components

I agree. Its too bad its made by Springfield Armory. I can still build one out for much less and slightly better components but looks like a very nice AR pistol for those who don't wanna build.

I agree... I loved the saint rifle when it dropped but don't agree with Springfield and their cunt logic and plans to fuck over gun lovers... besides that I agree if you don't want to build and can spend a little more than you would to build it out then this guns is a nice for you and looks decent... but for me I'm the guy who suggests to build it via 80%lowers

You people kill me with your "springfield is out to get gun owners". Go read the actual details of what transpired. Truth is sometimes more interesting than hearsay. That said, THINK. Why would a gun maker that generates the VAST majority of their income from ONE product (firearms) ever do anything that would intentionally jeopardize that income stream?

That's like a car manufacturer supporting a ban on cars. Seriously. Think things through...

On the specific question is a manufacturer who gets the vast majority of their income from one product stupid enough to do something to jeopardize the source of that income? Intentionally or not, yes they are

I said, "intentionally". You added "or not". That would include making a mistake, would it not? Has it been corrected, addressed, or in some way accounted for? Yes, it has. I'm not going to post links, however, as there are two sides to this story and everyone will simply choose the story that fits their narrative.

I went ahead and bought one. It's on it's way. I'll be buying a range officer stainless as well. Customer service and warranty are top notch. As long as Springfield brings out products that interest me, I'll keep buying.

I got mine and I've been to the range with it twice. It's super comfortable to shoot and more fun that a barrel of monkees. If you are looking for this type of pistol, you are getting a great overall product here. I put a vortex sparc ii on top of mine.
