Springfield Armory's XD-S Mod.2 Single-Stack Semi-Auto Pistol is a slim, trim, ergonomically designed handgun meant for concealed-carry use. To enhance concealability, Springfield Armory designed this pistol around the 9mm cartridge and a single-stack magazine, resulting in a smaller frame and slimmer profile than the standard XD-S; the slide has also been slimmed down, rounded and beveled from previous models. A memory bump has been added to the grip safety to ensure positive engagement. The XD-S Mod.2 features Springfield's GripZone™ frame that optimizes pointability and shooting control to get you on target quickly and stay on target during rapid fire. Three different textures are molded into specific parts of the grip where slip resistance is most critical. A deep relief beneath the beavertail and an undercut trigger-guard position the hand closer to the bore axis for enhanced pointability and reduced recoil. Posi-wedge slide serrations provide a solid hold on the slide when loading and or clearing the weapon. The slide cycles with a dual-captive recoil spring on a full-length guide rod. A steel, tactical-rack, serrated rear sight and a Pro-Glo™ tritium/luminescent front sight allow precise shot placement, as well as an index point for rapid shooting in low-light conditions. The XD-S Mod.2 Semi-Auto Pistol has a durable polymer frame, and a steel slide and barrel with a Melonite® finish for long-lasting durability. A loaded chamber indicator and striker status indicator give both visual and tactile indication of whether the gun is loaded, no matter the lighting condition. Fieldstrips easily without tools.
