Description

The SPHINX SDP Compact Black is a duty-sized pistol for the most discerning of shooters. The SDP Compact Black features a full aluminum lower frame, which gives it unparalleled balance, and can adapt to virtually any role. Every design feature on the SDP Compact Black is tailored to maximize performance, quality, and ergonomics. The competition inspired trigger is very smooth with a clean break and short, crisp, reset. The steel slide is machined from billet and is hand fitted to mate perfectly with the interior, full length guide rails, of the billet aluminum upper frame. The aluminum pistol grip features interchangeable back-straps to adjust length and width of the grip, the grip inserts are specifically designed to maximize contact with the support hand for added control. Also for added control, the high trigger guard shape and beaver tail allow for high hand placement on the pistol frame to compliment the low bore axis of the barrel, which allow the shooters to easily manage recoil. A Picatinny rail on the frame allow for the addition of modern tactical shooting accessories. The front and rear cocking serrations offer different options of firearm manipulation and the dotted front sight contrasts with the black rear sight for quick target acquisition. Ambidextrous features include the decocking lever and a magazine release that can be switched to either side. The slide release lever also serves as the take-down pin and is located on the left side of the Compact Black. Every component of the SDP Compact is manufactured to the highest standards and tolerances are extremely tight. Derived from competition and built for duty use, the SDP Compact is the ideal gun to suit your needs on the job, in the home, or in the shoot box.

I got the 2 tone version from Prepper Gun Shop for $725. Dont place the order online. Call or email to name your price instead. They are pretty nice to work with

That's a good price, I will see if they have the suc-compact in stock, I like small guns for concealed carry, or a super deep cover holster like the "cherries" holster from Cherries Tactical, that they are using in the John Wick franchise that Israli trainer Aron Cohen helped develop.

I got mine for $795 shipped, why is this still being referred to as a "thousand dollar gun"? The quality of this firearm is excellent, the gun warrants its price.

I read mixed reviews, compared to a $500.00 CZ P07, several reviewers found very little if any difference, unless you are a Competition shooter, Then the all Aluminum frame is a better option. Most places are still selling these for $975-1000.00. Granted they are coming down, and perhaps the sub compact would be a good carry, if you could find one. But unless you are a semi pro shooter, it ain't that much different than the cheaper CZ07, let alone the P01 or new CX 10 series. Not saying they aren't nice guns, but they should be priced at 6-700.

I will say that for a thousand dolars, you should have night sights included, or at least an option. I have them on all my carry guns. The availability of after market parts may be a problem, even Mags are a problem to get. God forbid you break an extractor or ejector, it might be a while before you get your gun back.

You guys do know that CZ makes 3000 dollar guns also yes?, Their Target guns run upwards of 3600 and higher depending on what you want. It's just like anything else, if you want hand fitting by a top man in any arena, you are going to pay through the nose for it.
If you are a trained Machinest or Gunsmith, "real Gunsmith" who can do the hand fitting yurself, much of these prices are negligable. Most of the guys who make custom guns, do so to get the fit exactly the way they want it, rather than adapt to a general product.

Dude, your comparison is totally irrelevant. You don't say a Rolls Royce is hundred times better than a Camry, do you? Not to mention the P-01 omega has been OOS for several months. Do you know any store still has it on sale right now? I've been looking for one too.

I chose the omega version because you get a choice of a safety and decocker which you do not with the Sphinx. I could have picked a regular CZ P-01, the MSRP is the same. Put another way CZ doesn't upcharge the MSRP for that option. Pick whichever P-01 you prefer, I'll pose the same question. Also, as for being OOS, I'll use your analogy,.........if Camrys were OOS for a short time does that suddenly make a Rolls Royce worth the price difference between the two? (Or more specifically 100K or so better than a Camry.)

Adding to what redder1 stated, being OOS is irrelevant. The supply of guns, and especially imported guns, can and does fluctuate throughout the year.

MSRP on this gun is $999. MSRP on a CZ P-01 Omega is $627. This gun is somehow $327 better? Seriously? Hard to fathom.

It's Swiss made originally. It's a CZ clone, but an upscale CZ.

Who makes this? SAR from Turkey.

Everything about this gun beats my SIG's this side of the X5 and its built tighter and has the same fit and finish of the X5. Also has the best SA trigger out of the box of any of my guns except for the adjustable SIG trigger on my X5. I'd take this over my Legion every day of week.

It's built much more like a custom gun and easily worth the price IMO.

When it comes down to CZ, SIG, and H&K platforms, it is all about personal preference. I did try all P226, P229 (not Legion though), USP, P30 before picking up this one for $719 (2 tone black/FDE) from PrepperGun 2 months ago. The gun definitely feels better in my hand (leftie). The only complaint was the DA trigger pull which was ridiculously heavy. After sending it to Automatic Accuracy for a trigger job. Both DA and SA triggers now awesome.

One of the finest handguns on the market.

Says who?

Anyone thinking about buying this pistol would be better advised to put the money towards a SIG P229 Legion. Or better yet, save yourself a few hundred bucks and pick up a CZ 75 Compact.

The SIG Legion failed miserably at Military Arms Channel's "torture test".The sphinx pistols are very well made and worth the money in my opinion.

Why? I never hear anyone speak of these guns. They seem to get a decent review, but just about everyone thinks that a thousand dollars is twice as expensive as they should be.
They are pricing above H&K , which has always been considered over priced aalong with some Sig models. "most".
If it's a semi custom gun, then it needs to really outperform on every level, but when you are pricing above H&K's P30 and Siga, 229, you better have something that can cook.
If you want an accurate gun that rides on interior rails, get an SP01, for $636.00, with everything included, NS, threaded barrell etc.
