This is the cheapest pistol compatible with an CAA MCK conversion. Which completely transforms this thing. Still not my goto piece, but helluva package for what you pay.

I really made out like a bandit on this gun! I was at my local range and the guy in the lane next to me would fire off a few rounds and stop. 30 seconds later he would do the same thing. I stepped back and watched as he would fire a few rounds and the magazine would fall out. He saw me watching him and when I went to take a break he followed. There is a room behind the range with A/C and benches where you can tear down your gun or just take a break from shooting. He asked me if I noticed if he was doing something wrong like hitting the magazine release and could I shoot it? I was done throwing a different recoil spring in my 1911 and we went back on the range. I shot his SD9VE and sure enough after a few slow shots the magazine fell out. Back to the "break" room. I asked if he had any other magazines, he had 4 total and said that they all did it. I said it has to go back to S&W for service. He said it had been back for service 3 times and they never were able to fix it. I asked if he had let the gunsmith at the range work on it and he said yeah he couldn't figure out what was wrong except that the magazine well seemed really loose, like during manufacturing something was way out of spec. The magazines he had actually had a bunch of side to side movement and and if you shook the gun it made a very loud rattle and if you really shook it the magazine would fall out. I suggested electrical tape around the magazines and the guy said that he had it with the gun. He had paid around $350 plus another $50 for two extra magazines so $400. Did I want to buy it because he was sick of the whole thing? I said no but then he said he would take $100 for the gun with all 4 magazines, the box it came in and I bought it for $100.

I was now a owner of a gun that magazines would just fall out of for no reason with one of the worst triggers I have ever felt.

I contacted S&W and was sent a Fed Ex label and off it went. When I got it back the work order said that that mag release had been replaced but yet the magazines still had a bunch of play, rattled and fell out. I called them back, talked to a supervisor and said I would take it all the way up the chain until I was satisfied. They offered me $389 towards any S&W gun on a trade. I ended up getting a M&P45 M2.0 4" compact for $180 - a $50 rebate plus the $100 I paid for the gun so you are looking at $230. Is the M&P the best gun ever made? No but the magazines don't fall out or even rattle. The trigger is much better, almost perfect and much smoother with a 5lb break. It is a .45 and has run flawless plus it has the same grip angle as a 1911. It is my EDC because if I hit someone with 11 .45 Critical Duty's and they don't go down then they weren't going down with 17 9mms assuming the magazine didn't fall out after 3 shots. It is about the same size as the SD9VE. I ended up trading the extra two magazines from the SD9VE straight up for two magazines for the M&P at a gun show.

If you want a $300 gun after transfer fees, there are much better guns on the market. As for the 3000 round gun thing I don't know, I doubt the one I bought used had 300 rounds through it. The moral is I wouldn't buy one even if it didn't drop the magazines out during shooting. The trigger is just plain nasty just from dry firing it. If I was going to end up spending $100 less on a Glock clone after modifying everything that needs to be modified on this gun to make it a "GLOCK" then I would just save up the extra $100. From my experience this is not a gun to trust your life with. I will say that Smith and Wesson made it right in the end with a little prodding but $100 was the right price for this gun with two extra magazines. You can buy a M&P45 M2.0 4" compact right now for $378 from Tombstone Tactical + your transfer fee. It's well worth the extra $130. Its a soft shooter for a small .45 and doesn't just look or feel cheap. The SD9VE did feel extremely cheap plus everything rattled. The M&P doesn't make a sound except for when I want it to. The Ruger Security 9 is so much more better at $260 then the SD9VE, that's a $20 difference for those who have to come in under $300 and it doesn't need ANY work done to it. Take it out of the box, load it and shoot it, no 10lb gritty trigger and it doesn't feel or look shiny and cheap. Plus it has a much better and smother trigger.
If I had $300 to spend on a gun that I had to defend my life with, the Ruger is a way better of a gun then this "gun" IMHO.

You can't beat this gun in this price range. If 299.99 is your bottom dollar including transfer, and not a penny more; you will be hard pressed to find a better pistol. A friend of mine bought an sw9 from our local gun shop years ago for 350, and it still runs. It was poorly maintained with only 1k rounds through it, and it has a worse trigger than the sd9, but again it still runs. I can't think of a better gun this cheap. Even Glock LEO trade ins are more expensive. To beat this gun you have to spend 350+

Great pistol for the money. Either polish the trigger components for $15 or drop in an aftermarket trigger when they are on sale. I grabbed an apex for my Glock on sale at Midway for $79.

Whoever said this is a 3000 round gun has 0 idea what they are talking about.

It's cute to see hipsters bashing this gun on price alone. It's a budget pistol. Yeah, the trigger sucks but that's about it. If you need a self defense firearm and can't afford a glock or something nicer, this is a steal. What I will not tolerate is those who say this thing doesn't work. Save yourself the embarrassment and realize that having not owned one, you have no idea what you're talking about. Thanks

I got the 40 of this firearm and was not impressed having used walthers and CZs . The trigger is grainy but heavy like an LCP but you never get a feel for the break point so you can't get a rhythm shooting it. It's an alright budget pistol but the finish on the slide is easy to score. The inserts for the slide in the frame stink, and the machining marks about.. But it fires

These seem like a long way improvement over it's ancestor the Sigma.
On the other hand I think i'd rather have a ruger security 9 for about the same price.

If they ever hit 200 shipped I'll have to pick one up on principle.

2,700 rounds in it and never had issue. Have Apex trigger. Every one says 3,000 is limit for gun. A couple of weeks will hit 3,000. We will see.

For $250 you can get one from Smoky Mountain Guns if you REALLY want one. The MIR is from S&W for $25 so it works out to be the same price.
I personally wouldn't do it but if you want one badly, there's your answer.
Been there, done that and bought the hype and gun. Bad decision.

Not necessarily hell-bent on getting one, but I've heard pretty good things about this once the sad excuse for a trigger is replaced.

Trigger isnt the greatest but, its $250......

I got 32 rounds through mine and the troubles began. After 200 different troubles. 4 times back for service and then I sold it. I agree the trigger isn't the best but I could live with it. My final straw was when magazines began dropping out with NATO ammo which would be the equivalent of a +P SD round. I'm actually glad that yours run OK but 1000 rounds isn't really that many. I was posting MY experience about how much trouble MY gun was and S&Ws inability to fix it and then got flamed by a troll named TacticalToiletSplatter.

Then it got out of hand because the guy is sick in the head, honestly just look at his picture or click on his name and read some of his troll posts.

I agree 100%. What is the point of having any gun that fails? Range gun? I take the guns I love to shoot to the range (my backyard). Ones that are dependable when I need them. Ones I want to practice with. Not some POS that breaks down half the time you shoot it and is in the shop more than the range. I only buy new guns and will never have a gun that malfunctions. I would take it to the pawn shop to sell and be happy with what they give me for it.

I agree. Special Ed is really losing his shit. He has resorted to baby talk, I'm thinking when we call him on his nonsense he curls up into a fetal position and sucks his thumb. OTOH we have made this gun the posting with the most comments on here which is probably a bad thing. That .40 cal. M&P for $50 more or the same price with a DD 214 has got to be a better gun. If not, it will be the last new Smith & Wesson I buy. I also do not need a another pistol but its $320 shipped plus my FFL owes me a free transfer so it's $320 - $50 so $270 OTD.
Twinkle, Duane and I are different people, ask your mom.

LOL. A "brief search" my ass... ADMIT IT, you SCOURED for that video and that's the absolulute best you could find to fit you bullshit narrative on this weapon.

Even the dude reviewing says he bought 2 the exact same day and that the other runs everything flawlessly... Hell, the comments on that vid are filled with people that seem baffled.

Look, I'm not saying you didn't get a lemon, shit happens. But you come here blowing mud all over this gun attempting to turn people away from S&W because you are in the very rare and COMPLETE MINORITY that got a bum gun. Too bad so sad... You've let everyone know you're upset but all your B.S propaganda doesn't change the fact that the ABSOLUTE and OVERWHELMING MAJORITY run FLAWLESS.

So move on and take your cuck fanboy DuaneDippley with you. If you call him "tiny little man" he'll let you and as many friends as you can bring bang his wife. Double up and bring respirators though, because anything that nasty's gonna reek.

No actually I really don't care enough to "SCOUR" for the video, find it yourself. I'm not the one who is trolling on here, you are. You're right I got a lemon, S&W couldn't fix their own gun after 4 tries, they could have made it right and didn't. That isn't "shit happens", that's my time and money wasted. Look I sold that PIECE OF SHIT and haven't looked back. I see the VE version which is referred to as the "GHETTO GLOCK" on this site and I'm going to tell my story. Even at $100 a gun isn't a good deal if it doesn't run and S&W cant fix it. There are 3 used ones in the cabinet of a LGS that I go to and another LGS that I go to refuses to carry them or Taurus's.

I'm glad that your moms SD9VE runs well because you really do seem like a kid. As for: "ABSOLUTE and OVERWHELMING MAJORITY run FLAWLESS" that's BS and I could post links to about 25 videos of SDVEs that DONT "RUN FLAWLESS" but I really don't care. If your mother could only afford a Ghetto Glock then good for her. I can afford anything listed on here so I went a different route. I was looking for a truck gun and got a POS and then got no CS or service from S&W.

As for DuanneDibbly he makes me laugh and isn't trying to defend a gun that is basically a piece of shit that most people sell within a year because it needs this or that to make it run right. Figure this garbage gun is going to run you $300 after tax plus your transfer fee and then you have to upgrade the trigger and guide rod. Brownells is "conveniently" giving you a $25 "gift card" for a $40 trigger + $10 shipping, gee I wonder why they don't sell the Apex trigger spring kit (liability issues?) for $21 and Galloway guide rods used to cost $35 BUT they stopped selling them because they would crack the frame on the SD and mods that alter the gun are NOT covered under S&Ws warranty. Add $100 to the price of the gun, have fun filing the Apex trigger to end up returning it: - "These Apex trigger upgrades are pointless" - that's from Apex's website. Plus you have to love the cheap plastic sights which is going to cost you some money to replace with metal sights which S&W could have done for $10 on their end.
Now you are WELL over $450 and could have bought a M&P40 PRO SERIES C.O.R.E. for $440 - $50 with a DD214 so $390.

Here's the typical buyer of the SD9VE: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bqTZzVVpvZw...

When you grow up and get a real gun instead of the Red Ryder that mommy lets you shoot under strict supervision there is a saying:
You can take a pile of dogshit and sprinkle powdered sugar on it and call it a Danish but in the end it's still a pile of dogshit.

That sums up the SD9VE.

Nah, you scoured it... probably for hours. I know because you're a sensitive, tiny little man with self esteem issues and the undeniable urge to be correct and feel superior. I bet you scoured and scoured and scoured some more. Good job!

Even more amusing is thinking about how much of your time I own, how long you spent tailoring that long and meaningless message, to watch you thumb up your own comments as log in and out of a disturbing amount of multiple accounts...lol.

It really is the only reason I reply to you. You're like a manipulatable little weasel that's easy to wind up and runs like clockwork. An absolute noboby... That's right, you're cheap entertainment dude. An utter fucking joke that I love putting on display.

I gave an honest review and you said "Hey I'm 12, I'll go troll this MAN because in real life I hide behind my moms computer because schools out. Hey kid, maybe if you would change your search engine to google and lay off that ASK JEEVES, it wouldn't take you a day and a half to search for your videos. Usually, posters look at their own sorry ass life and comment on it about other posters. Is that how you would treat your own wife? Like she is a truck stop lot lizard? No wonder you have such a nasty outlook on life. Then again, maybe you let your friends gangbang your wife because it just turns you on. Well, to each his own. You may want to have your friends wear protection if you plan on keeping them...or dose your keg with penicillin. XD

Perhaps next time you can figure out how to use this site and post UNDER the comment you are replying to instead of at the top where absolutely no one has any idea who you are replying to. Don't feel bad, your boyfriend also seems to do that when he is flustered. And good luck with that crappy gun that you are trying so hard to defend.
