Easy-To-Operate Compact EDC Pistol That's Also Built for Safety

A compact, everyday-carry variation of Smith & Wesson’s popular M&P pistol line, the M&P380 Shield EZ was designed with ease of use in mind, especially for new and inexperienced shooters.

Compact pistols chambered in .380 ACP are typically blowback operated, which requires a stiff recoil spring that is hard for shooters with limited hand strength to operate. The M&P380 Shield EZ needs significantly less force than similar pistols to rack the slide. Deep serrations as the rear of the slide provide an excellent gripping surface for racking. Aggressive texturing on the grip firmly anchors the pistol in the shooter’s hand - a big help not just in racking the slide but in controlling recoil, too. Plus, the 18° grip angle offers a natural point of aim.

Unusually refined for a compact carry pistol, the M&P380 Shield EZ’s single action trigger has a crisp break and a distinct reset you can both feel and hear, giving the shooter better feedback and precise trigger control. Unlike the rest of the M&P line, the EZ’s trigger face does not have a built-in passive safety; there’s a grip safety instead.

- Thin & lightweight - easy to carry all day
- Easy-to-rack slide
- Easy-to-acquire, 3 white dot sights with windage adjustable rear
- Picatinny under-frame rail - easy to mount a light or laser sight
- Easy-to-load 8-round magazine
- Easy to disassemble for cleaning
- Visual / tactile loaded chamber indicator
- Reversible magazine release button

940-001-101WB

In common with the rest of the M2.0 line, the M&P380 Shield EZ has Smith & Wesson’s new takedown lever design that lets you disassemble the pistol without having to depress the trigger - an extra measure of safety to prevent an accidental discharge. For an added layer of protection, this model is fitted with an ambidextrous thumb safety; a no-thumb-safety version is also available (#940-001-100, listed separately).

Its possible.

These are fantastic. I put hands on one yesterday at my LGS. They look so much better in person it's unbelievable. Don't be bothered by the grip saftey, it's an illegitimate gripe and a TOTAL NON ISSUE... In hand you can't even tell it's there, just a like a 1911.

Some guns you just have to handle to appreciate. This is one of them. Ergo, grip texture, trigger pull, it's all there. And yes, the slide function is amazingly light. Like cO2 pistol light. So light in fact, I'm suprised it doesn't get hung up peeling rounds off the mag.

MY LGS has this for $394 before tax making this deal look super legit.

I too recently handled one and agree with everything thing you have said. It's like the perfect size also. I think Smith hit a home run with this one.

Thanks for the comments, it's good to hear from people who have actually handled this firearm and understand its intended use. Instead of uninformed idiots who criticize it offhand because it doesn't match THEIR preferences of design features, looks or chambering.

Pigman, what's the slide pull like? Perhaps like a Ruger SR22 or similar?

Mom's getting frail well into her 60's and couldn't rack my G43 for a million dollars.

Looked at a couple wheel guns but they seem large in her purse. Havent seen this one in person yet.

For some reason my replies are posting above the comments I'm replying to. Sorry for any confusion

I also haven't encountered a 22 with lighter slide pull, and way lighter than the ruger 380 sub. It's about a 1/4" longer than the shield 9mm, my guess is to give a bit more room to lighten the spring. Trigger's not as nice as the previous gen "performance center", but still clean. I'd opt for the one with the ambi safety, but watch out cause they had a recall on the safety locking after a shot. Under rail is a nice addition too.

Lighter pull than that .22 slide, it's made for your Mothers demographic, folks with arthritis and such. Get one, you will be pleased.

Excellent for folks who have trouble racking a slide, arthritis, elderly or weak will LOVE this pistol. Great shooter, VERY reliable, 400 rounds later, finish still looks great and almost no wear marks on barrel or slide. Rear sight is Very easy to adjust, just a simple allen wrench and it slides with no force, then locks back down tight.

Enough already this gun has been posted too many times in the last 24 hours.

This is the only full size 380 acp on the market rights now. It is also one of the most usable firearms by woman, new shooters, and elderly. It is also extremely reliable because the design has been improved over a long period of time. This is basically a 400$ pistol in todays market, and if you go to a local store you will probably end up paying more than that. If a ruger lcp can fetch 200-250 then this shield ez for 300$ is more than worth it. What are the shipping and tax fees looking like on this?
