With the introduction of their M2.0 line of polymer framed, striker fired pistols, Smith & Wesson addressed the one big complaint that gun buyers had about the M&P line: the trigger. As we’ve mentioned in previous reviews of both the full-size and compact

Don't believe the 2 magazines are included anymore. At least it does not say so on the page any longer.

I don't see the wording for the 2 extra mags.

WOW!!!

I shoot 147gr Winchester Ranger T's, FMJ's and various other sub sonic rounds with no problem. Great gun, period.

Use the lowest power & lightest weight ammo possible which will allow gun to function according to S&W instructions that come with the gun. Not exactly confidence inspiring and +P is out of the question for me. This gun is selling for about what it really should have in the first place if politics were a non-issue. Decent as the Shield line is, it will NOT replace your Glock or even your Ruger SRC, IMO.

Rugers are garbage chief and personally, I'll take this over the Glock 43 all day long.

What page of the manual does it specifically say, "Use the lowest power & lightest weight ammo possible which will allow gun to function?"

I submitted rebate online, I used receipt shipped with the gun that has serial number on it.

Has anyone submitted the online rebate form? It looks like all that is needed is a copy of the sales receipt (along with the other fields in the online form). Is the sales receipt shipped with the gun, and we get that from the FFL holder when we pick up?

Yes. I had s&w send me an email in writing. One rebate per gun, per rebate form. No limits. 10 to 12 weeks to get your money.

Too good of a deal to pass up. Great gun. Bought a couple more. Got 1000 plus rounds through mine with no issues. Bought 6 shields so far. 1 rebate per gun, no limits. $450 back. Just have to wait a while.

Sweet deal as described by Gunbuyer. Ordered Tuesday, arrived at local FFL on Friday.

I bought a Shield 180021 from SOS last month and waiting for my rebate, if I buy another Shield 180021 from Gunbuyer, will I be eligible for another rebate?

0 votes

yes, I talked to S&W customer service about it when the rebates came out. You can buy 50 guns and get 50 rebates. It's one rebate PER GUN, and unlimited amount of guns

Stop toying with my emotions!
I'm a lefty. I need the non-safety version. Make it happen and I'll show you the money!

according to someone who called in at the S&W forums, 10 weeks is the earliest real world scenario to get it back

This is a great deal at $224 after rebate, free shipping with the two extra 8rd mags from GunBuyer! Those are worth about $45 ;)

WOW! Thought I got a good deal at $299 free shipping.... extra mags makes this a killer deal... do I really need another?!!

1 vote

yes, yes you do. You can never have too many....sadly this is for the version with safety. if they had it for the no safety version I would jump on another in heartbeat

If you read the description of the rebate it says: "ANY" shield purchased. So yes..

Can the rebate be used for Shield in multiple calibers? For example - if I buy this 9mm can I also get a rebate on the 45? Thanks in advance for any clarification.

yes, you the rebate #'s are unlimited. you can get 10 guns and 10 rebates, 50 guns, 50 rebates. I already contact S&W about this when the rebate went live

How long does it take for the rebates to be sent out? Sent a reabate in on day 1 and was going to use it towards a 2nd, but at this price with 2 mags I have to pull the trigger now...so to speak.

Received my shield from gunbuyer.com and no problems other than the fact that it took a week to ship. Other than that it is Ian excellent gun. Put 400 rounds through it flawlessly!

Why is Whittaker guns trying to "make things right" for Gunbuyers customers?

Preyhunter, I think the Shield is a different type of gun than the PT111 which I have shot a few times and I own a couple of taurus (PT911/TCP 738) and I like them both. However the PT111 is concealable but it is not a 1 inch thick single stack, a better comparison would be the 709 slim which I debated to get but at this price the Taurus value is wiped out when you compare quality, ability to conceal, and overall feel of the shield. 8 +1 rounds plus an extra mag is enough for me for personal defense as I do not intend to be in a gunfight with a PT111 or a Shield. I personally did not like the PT111 which had several FTF especially with hollow points. So far the shield eats everything i feed it even with mixed ammo types loaded in the mag.

I decided to order the PT111 G2 today instead of this. Something about having to remove the rear sight in order to do a trigger job on this thing sounds counter-intuitive to me. I can live with the longer trigger pull of the PT111 (already own 2 TCPs, an LCP, and a Kahr K40 with long trigger pulls) and I can do trigger work myself (have been modding my own firearms for years now). Higher capacity of the PT111 is more desirable to me as well.

I'm fully capable of removing/reinstalling a rear sight to do a trigger job, but that just sounds ridiculous.

Maybe I'll machine a redesigned trigger to make the trigger pull feel shorter...

Back to the gun review... I received mine on Friday and took it to the range and it worked flawlessly. At this price after rebate there are no cons only those that nitpick could find something wrong, the trigger is perfect, the much maligned thumb safety is way overblown, the low recoil resembles my full size 9mm! There is no competition for a quality Cc 9mm at this price, so if you must waste a hundred dollars go buy a XD, Glock43, LC9s!

Over 7 business days since ordered. No status updates. No tracking number. Just an order that says "pending". No email back from them yet either. Will not order from here again.

EDIT - Spoke with a rep. on the phone. Some type of glitch in their system held my order up. She was very polite and fixed the mistake.

EDIT 2 - Spoke with another rep. about why my order still has not shipped. The reason being I didn't give them a phone number. I was under the impression they didn't need my phone number since my FFL has it. This lady was not as polite as the first one. They've held my money since the 16th without any intention of shipping my order. This will be my last purchase from them. Ever.

I placed an order on 4/4/17 for a gun and a week later I was told the gun was out of stock. On 4/18/17 I placed an order for a gun and a week later was told the gun was out of stock. Both times they held my money for ten days I can't believe it takes a week to discover a gun is out of stock. Has this happened to anyone else.
