On my original sport I changed my hand guard to a quad rail, never put anything on it in several years beside rubber covers and changed it back. The stock picatinny is good enough to co witness are’s dot. One possible negative is that it is not free float barrel. My next actual build is going to be a free float m-lok
77Infidel - I was thinking his alter ego might be Willy Whistle —
ChefJoseph, Thank you for the reply.
I’m looking for “owners” opinions that own both of these S&W’s and the Ruger’s — Which ones are the best in your opinion and why. Thanks for your experienced opinions. PS WhoH00 don’t bother to reply I don’t care what you say especially about ur Red Ryder Pop Gun with a string attached to a cork.. lol lol he he
I had the s&w and the Ruger around same
Time. I preferred the ruger personally. Felt a bit lighter and my groupings were better. I paid $499 each for both but still think $600ish is fine .I sold the s&w and my Ruger is now modded out and is my go to AR for many years and years to come
I could've sworn I saw this yesterday for $588, not sure from what seller. Guess with the ammo ban prices will increase.
Also yes, no WooHoo is good WooHoo.
I could've sworn his alter ego was either HillaryRottonClinton or DuaneDibbley. That way he was able to satiate his desire for imaginary friends in his posts. As far as this rifle, I don't have any info. Rant complete.
Not any woohoo? I have the original sport with the melonite coated barrel and no dust cover. Honestly I don’t find dust covers to be super necessary for range shooting. I am a fan of s&w and think this is a great entry level ar
This was my first AR. Great rifle. I've replaced all the furniture on it and have a Vortex Prism sight on it. The only thing I didn't like was the phosphate semi auto bolt carrier group. I had a few jams with it. It's lighter than a full auto BCG and needs to be wet to function right. I replaced it with a Nickel Boron full auto BCG and it is so much better. I would have gotten a Ruger as well, but they don't nitride their barrel and is more prone to rust.
Still the best buy in an entry level AR platform carbine.
Last week sportsman warehouse had Anderson AM15 for $500. Of course they’re gone but more on the way. I’ve heard they are pretty good.
They're okay, but the M&P is better. Nitrided barrel, rear sight, and proper front sight block.
In todays market this is a fairly good deal. The rifle itself is a solid well made AR15. I own the Smith and Wesson M&P "T" tactical rifle version of myself and its always been reliable, accurate and fun to shoot. In fact it is the rifle I carry in my patrol car. I have it mounted to my cage via a Havis brand electronic rifle and shotgun mount. I have a Vortex Strikefire optic and a few other mods such as a MFT minimalist Stock, B.A.D lever, magpul grip and strike industries comp. Its just a nice, compact, lightweight patrol rifle.
Thanks for your input! Question for you, why do some officers get the Smith and others get the LE6920 in their patrol car? I was curious if there was any rhyme or reason as those are the two rifles correct?
Hey, look. It's only $60-$100 more than it should be. Too bad you'll need a second mortgage to buy ammo for it.
@stacking9mm ,
Why did u pay sale tax?
when I picked my M&P weeks ago.my LGS told me S&W was running a spacial I think in April and May .buy 10 get one free.
Not a bad deal....however....
Since S&W has been mass producing these, I think their quality has gone down.
The fit and finish on mine had issues. I sold it for a Windham Weaponry.
Something to think about at least.
Same here. All my LGS in WA state are now charging well over 600$ for it. Lowest price I've seen is about 629.99 in WA state as of the last few weeks.
Online.whittaker firearms. LGS around me are expansive as hell
Maybe they are trying to hold out until supply is down again. May be awhile though.
Got mine back in June when the prices bottomed out from Whittaker for 499.99 plus a few bucks shipping. After tacking on ffl fees and tax around 570 otd.
Not a bad price on this currently compared to other sites. I got mine for a little cheaper but a few months ago and I must say I'm impressed so far. Excellent staking job on the bcg and castle nut and great fit and finish with no slop or wobble. If you're looking for your first AR or just another reliable AR to add onto I don't think you can go wrong.
What did you get yours for? I'm curious what the lows are on this rifle.
From what i remember late winter into spring you could grab the Sport II for just under $550. Then in early summer Whittaker Arms started offering the rifle for $499. Nobody offered it for less than that. Since then the rifle has creeped up to $600 plus. With elections coming it will likely creep up more in price. Even for $600 this rifle is a good deal.
Hey guys thanks for the info on both AR’s and lower class lettered whoohoo4u thank you too. U Da MAN 8-))
