Beautiful gun. Very tempted. My first revolver is a Ruger SP101. But a lock on a revolver is... what's that word, very unrevolver. Does if you who didn't like the lock, can you just not lock it and ignore it? It'll be unlocked, right? Just asking for opinions so I can make a sound decision.

You can remove the lock mechanism with only one drawback, a hole will be visible where the lock key gets inserted, you’ll also have to pen up the gun and mess around with the internals, if that’s a problem, then it’s a no go

She’s beautiful, and she has 7 holes, WOW!!!

I have a question and would appreciate anyone's help. I have zero experience shooting revolvers and none of my friends have anything other than a snub nosed something for me to try, which I'm not interested in.

If money were no issue, would you buy this, a python/king cobra, chiappa rhino, or something else? Korth is not an option because they're so hard to find. I've had a handful of guns in the past where price didn't equal quality. Thank you in advance!

There are better shooting revolvers out there, but I don't think you'll find any at this price. If you buy this, you'll be happier with it for a sub $1k revolver.

Sweet Revolver - its a Beautiful Gun! I love mine! This is the Goldilocks gun -the barrel is not too long, and its not too short, its just right. Highly recommend!

I would never buy a revolver with that bullshit lock. I have never owned a firearm that came with a set of keys, and I never will. If the shooting public refused to support this stupid shit, they would have no choice but to manufacture them without it.

Aww... Poor little baby... The lock in childproof. Must make it hard for you.

I like the lock, I'm glad S&W added this feature. I never use the lock but it's always hilarious hearing or seeing someone loose their mind over it.
I'm curious, do you feel the same way about parking brakes on automobiles?

I think my PT111G2 has a lock. I opened the box, removed the gun, and resealed the box and placed it in my garage. I have no need for a lock and won't flip out if it does or doesn't have one. But I use my parking brakes all the time on my vehicles. Just a habit. Especially on my 18 wheeler. I have seen people who 'forgot' to set their brakes and it isn't a pretty sight! If Anton Yelchin would have set his parking brakes on his jeep, he would probably be alive today.

Yes it's a travesty to never have to touch it from the day you buy it. Horrible.... absolutely horrible.

His comment states that he took the firearm out of the box, closed the box (including the key to the lock), and never looked at the contents of the box again. Basically, if you don't like the lock, don't use it. I have to be honest - options, esp ones that work well for those who may want to use them, are never a bad thing.

Thank you for your skepticism! It's healthy.

This Talo special edition has the frame lock on the left side and the double action pull has 4 distinct clicks. I’m no expert on the differences but just letting you know. Case hardened trigger and hammer. Under the unique grips is the standard round butt so any other grips will fit. Stamped markings, no laser etched nonsense.

Yep have to agree the 686 was my first duty revolver 30 years ago smoothest revolver trigger of any of my others. With .38 ammo it’s like firing a .22 cal. .357 loads have little recoil. I love the gun and will never sell it I paid $290.00 out the door new and still looks like the day I bought it.

1 of my favorite sidearms...but the model 19 is my favorite trigger hands down. the only other trigger that comes close is the USP 45 tac and the geissele g2g in my collection.

Grabagun has the same revolver for a total of 666.99 shipped. The gift card is to make up for the $100 overcharge for the very same item. The rebate is from the manufacturer so you still get it. Brownells charge way too much for their guns. I buy stuff from them, but not guns.

You must have missed it because it was "in stock" when I posted this. I bought one already.

The only revolver I've ever carried as a duty weapon is the 686. That gun had the most incredibly crisp as clear glass trigger out of the box I've ever felt on any gun. It was insanely accurate, as I'm sure many revolvers are. Once there was no true reason for me to own it I traded it in for a bull barrel .17HMR with a Burris Sweet 22 scope. Today that scope is much less expensive than a few years ago, but the reason I mention it is the value of the 686 revolver was still there and I paid nothing for the rifle. Great gun, and it's $250 less here than I paid for mine.

Yep, the 686 is one of the finest revolvers made. My 3" is an amazingly accurate pistol for its barrel length. I'd say the only .357 revolver I've shot that's in the same class is the Colt Python, but you'd have to spend upward of 3 grand to put one of those in your safe, where you can own this classic for under $700. This is a solid deal on a great gun.

I have a 686 Plus Pro 5". Tapered underlug, satin finish. Wonderful revolver. The Pro means it goes through S&W Performance Center. This 5" in my opinion looks more traditional and is better looking.
