Best 308 ar10 platform to date. Slim rifle. Low weight. Super accurate. Awesome.

I own one of these. Got it for the same price from palmetto. I must disagree with the negative comments about this rifle. Granted, replacement parts would be hard to come by. However, I find this rifle purrs like a kitten. Mine is highly accurate, the stock trigger is great for what it is, and I don't see any parts breaking on this thing any time soon. How would one ruin a barrel besides shooting it out? One man's opinion: for a 7.62 platform AR that has a reputation for being propriatary, this rifle is no exception. But, for $1000, its hard to beat.

Be warned, Be warned this M&P 10 is proprietary to S&W, it's not a standard AR10, if you ruin the barrel by accident, S&W will not replace it under warrany and they won't sell you one either to do it yourself or fix it for a fee, it will be a $1000 dollar paperweight.

Those people really need to do some more research. You CAN put a dpms barrel on a MP10, just have to change the bolt as well. The S&W bolt will not engage a dpms design barrel.

Not a big deal for most.

That barrel clearly had an obstruction for it to do that anyway. Just saying

Great new rifle and I have to rig it with non OEM parts because S&W won't sell me them.

The barrel and bolt are not the only things proprietary on the M&P 10, the buffer tube and spring also, If you break anything else will S&W sell you a replacement part? if this is a range gun you might be ok, if you intend to hunt or use it as a battle rifle and train with it, or want to customize it with aftermarket parts I would look elsewhere.
