service utterly sux!!!
Bought on 9-27-2014 in their store, was told could pick up in 2-3 days. Even tho its in stock in the warehouse- the big building adjoining the northeast Columbia, SC storefront where i purchased it. 10-9-2014 no gun, no update, no call, absolutely the worst service by far of any gun retailer Ive ever dealt with. shame for this gun being such a good shooting choice.

Finally received and was in good condition.

WOW...fast shipping after all! I ordered on the 3rd, and got the shipping notification that it'll be here on the 10th! You can't ask for faster than that!

It probably helps living only @ 500 miles away! Now, I can only hope for a great one with zero problems!

I can't say enough good things about this weapon, the outstanding price, and PSA! Maybe I'm an anomaly, but they had this beautiful P938 delivered to my FFL on the 8th day after purchase. And while they did make a small error and not include serial number on the FFL paperwork, the Compliance Department answered the phone the next morning on the first ring, and had the paperwork straightened-out within 30 minutes. If you've had problems with PSA in the past, they must have straightened things out. I'd say give them another chance, because my experience was spectacular! Great price on a great gun, fast shipping, and awesome follow-up service! it is also of note to say they didn't pull the same BS I've seen other stores do (Robert's), like take one of the mags out or charge a CC fee to add a little cash to their bottom-line...awesome!

I know this review sounds like I'm some setup, but trust me...everything I've said here is true. Great job, PSA!

I have three of these, one used exclusively as my EDC. For me, this is still too big for a pocket carry, so I wear outside the waist with the included Sig holster. Note that, for each of the three P938's purchased, a different pocket holster was included, so no guarantees as to which holster you will get with each purchase. For what it's worth, for backup pocket carry, I have a Sig P238 and a S&W Bodyguard 380 with laser, both of which are slightly smaller than the P938 and are more concealable/less detectable whether in the pocket or ITW style. Regarding shipping from PSA, my experience has been about 2 weeks for handguns and ammo, and longer for rifles. When you place the order, the system reminds you of their shipping times, and they have always been relatively close to those times. PSA has become my "go to" online retailer simply because of their pricing and "daily deals" - if you can tolerate the wait, I have found the reward and dollar savings is worth it.

So you're saying you purchased 3 of the same P938 model (Sport) & received 3 different holsters? Or are you saying you bought 3 different P938 models with 3 different holsters? My friend & I bought the Sport model & we both got the same cheap trigger guard holster. Saw an unboxing video & that person received the same trigger guard holster as ours.

Yes, three different holster designs with the Sports 13 model. My first one was the one I actually wear daily (part #8500182). I purchased several other after market brands and nothing worked better, so I have stayed with it. The second holster from Sig was similar but was an ITW with a high rise plastic sweat shield, and the third one was a holster on a string, designed specifically for pocket carry with a trigger guard and lanyard for attachment to your belt or belt loop so you could draw and the lanyard would pull on the the holster/guard for removal. If you have the OTW with the small adjusting screw, that is what I wear daily. Once I got the tension set right, it is extremely easy to draw/remove while still holding the gun firmly in place. Plus, unlike my other, larger holsters for P226 TacOps and P229, there are no snaps or retention systems to fumble with.

We both received the 3rd one (pocket carry trigger guard with the string which looks & feels cheap) you mentioned. Wished I got the other one. I'm currently using the pocket carry holster that came with CT laser bundle. Mixed reviews on Amazon but it suits me fine for pocket carry. Now, I just need to look for an OWB holster.

The one that I carry is available at the Sig store for $26.95. The link is https://www.sigsauer.com/SigStore/sig-sauer-standard-polymer-holsters-441.aspx...

Probably not for everyone but, as the ad states, "Single injection molding creates a one-piece holster that is closer to the body, more durable, and lighter weight than other tactical holsters. High-tech, black polymer, one-piece design features no rivets or weak points." To date, it has worked well for me.

That looks much better (not to mention more functional) than the pocket carry with trigger guard holster I received. I'd probably use that if it came with mine. Have you noticed any scratches and/or anything else on the 938 regarding holster wear with that one?

I've been carrying this 938 for about 6 months and had never noticed any wear and certainly no scratches. Now that you have asked, I laid it side by side with a brand new in the box "spare" and I don't think anyone could tell the difference between the new one and my EDC as far as wear. It comes out of the holster numerous times during the day for various reasons and at night so it is more accessible at my bedside. To date, I don't see anything of concern related to holster wear. I am not saying the gun is still in perfect condition, because it has been dropped once and has certainly banged a few items but holster wear has not been a concern.

Must be nice to have a spare, LOL! Thanks for the info. Just the whole plastic on metal rubbing doesn't make me feel at ease compared to leather on metal. Hopefully a local shop has one in-stock so I can check it out in-person.

Indeed, the "spares" make nice trading tools when the prices fluctuate so often!! Two weeks ago, you couldn't find one of these for less than about $650 shipped.

How sticky are the Hogue grips, like with clothing? Even if we carry IWB, I've read they can stick to your untucked shirt, if you bend over, for example.

Really though, we've taken enough of your time, so no answer required...I'll find out soon enough.

I have Hogue grips on many guns and in various calibers because of the familiar feel and grip. I have never noticed or considered them to be sticky. For me, they are soft and easily gripped, which means more confidence in controlling under recoil.

Thanks for the input, hiprollc. I'm with you on PSA...I've lasted this long without a weapon, so a week either way won't matter much.

I was REALLY hoping to pocket carry with one of these handmade holsters...they come highly recommended for not printing, and ease of draw.

Have you had any of the reliability issues with yours that have been seen on the boards? When were your P938s born? I figure they must be OK if you have three.

Leftcoast, absolutely no reliability issues at all. Have only fired brass ammo and no reloads, but not expensive stuff. I save the good defender ammo for carry but have bought almost all brands of cheap brass and these little jewels continue to shine. If you buy that holster, provide some feedback on "printing" - you might change my mind on pocket carry, but the 938 still feels a little heavy and bulky in a pocket, especially with the 7-round extended mag. For my pocket guns, I only carry the stock mags. For the 938 OTW, I prefer the extended mags for the extra shot and pinky rest.

Ordered this one last Wednesday from PSA. Status say "still processing". I am staring to get annoyed with the order.

We ordered the same day...race you!

I read somewhere shipping can be anywhere from 10 days to 3 weeks. I want mine too, but to save $225 over the LGS is worth the wait. Hopefully, we'll get word this week.

I'm wondering if when I get it, do I tear it down and Froglube it, or not? Either way, I won't put anything near the firing pin.

Sometimes they'll ship it & won't update the site until a few days afterwards. Not sure if you know or not but PSA is known to be very slow to ship. A couple other people have previously mentioned it in this post. FWIW, my buddy & I ordered it at the same time. His took 2-weeks & mine took 3-weeks.

Looks like another awesome offering from PSA.

Does anyone know if the extra thickness and stickiness of the Hogue grips make these tougher to pocket carry?

0 votes
0 votes

The thickness doesn't bother me nowhere near as much as the rubber material does. IMHO, it's great at the range but not for pocket carry. Then again, this really isn't a range gun. I swapped it out for 2-piece VZ ETC G10 grips & it's a noticeable difference (for pocket carry). BTW, the Hogue grip is a 1-piece wrap around design so won't fit with a Crimson Trace laser unless you trim it.

Thanks for the input.

I've been thinking about the CT laser as a deterrent, but now I'm not so sure. I'll probably go without.

Laser or no laser, I'd still replace that Hogue grip. I use the CT laser to deter would-be thieves, etc.

lasers are a distraction from actual shooting skills IMO. I dislike them. go without. learn how to shoot using the iron sights (night sights)

That's the P238 (.380) model they sell for that price. The P938 (the model in this post) is a 9mm & they charge $622 prepaid.

The one you're referring to is a .22 and it's not even the same model of a P938 as this one (.22 vs 9mm, Rosewood grips vs black rubber wrap around grip, Siglite front sight vs TruGlo front sight, 10-rd vs 7-rd, different color slide stop/ambi safety/mag release. The same one KGC has sells for $538/$554.

Great price, unfortunately there's a chance I wouldn't receive it in time for the postmark date for the magazine rebate.

Normally I would say you'd be ok. But this is psa and they have turtle shipping

Purchase by 8/1 and post mark by 8/23....thus you'd really need possession by 8/22 and that is essentially 3 weeks. With psa that could be a gamble. If this was sportsman outdoor superstore you'd get it

I agree. If Sportsmans Outdoor had this model in stock, I'd be all over it.

Good deal

I have one of these already but, at this price and with the rebate for extra 2 mags and bag, will pick up another. Mine also came with the plastic/polymer belt holster that works extremely well; that is, it is easily concealable while also very easy to access/remove and ready for fire. I also have the P238 (380 auto), purchased for my wife, but the feel of the 938 is more to my liking because of the slightly larger frame size. I paid $40 each for the extra mags, so that effectively drops the price of this deal down to $460/$470, which was about the cost of the P238 shipped. The P938 is my daily carry; at this price, guess I will start carrying one on each hip!

Oh man, I've really been wanting this gun, but the "Extreme" version. This version is quite a bit cheaper than the Extreme. What's the difference with this version from the Extreme?

Also, whats up with the expiration date in the picture? (it says May 20th, we're in September now)

-Thanks

Whats the deal with the down vote this cost $689 +tax at local academy

Early 938's garnered some haters due to bad extractors, and certain combinations of light ammo with limp wristing causes problems. Sig will fix those with issues and new production is ok. However there is no correcting that this is a pistol you cannot limp wrist.

If you can shoot 1911's ok you'll likely love this gun. It is the nicest mass market pocket pistol out at the moment, and is a GREAT shooter with the 7 round mag. You can't go wrong with a 2-mag package under $550.

This is a really nice price on a 938 that comes with both mags.

Fiber optic front sight is a little strange but I could see it as an advantage during a lot of situations.

I bought one of these a couple of months ago from a local dealer. I've tried several small guns, but none of them came close to being as accurate as this little guy. It's super easy to carry and easy to shoot. This is a great deal.

I bought one of these from my local gun store for the same price about a month ago. It's a great deal on an absolutely superb handgun.

agree as well, bought the wife a P238 and I've basically stolen it from her it since it shoots so nice, looking at picking up the P938 for myself now so she can have her gun back ,haha

i do feel the extended magazines make massive difference on a gun of this size and looks as if this comes with one, which is a $40~50 dollar value as well.. good little package here.

this is a great price from what I've been seeing locally.
