The deals on new classic series SIGS are crazy good these days and CDNN is a reliable seller. Recently picked up a Custom Shop SAS 9mm from these guys for the same price. And btw, what kind of idiot downvotes this gun as "bad product"?
I've been buying all the .40 cal I can get. The FBI says they're switching to 9mm and everyone ditches the .40 to buy all the 9mm. The .40 isn't going anywhere and will eventually bounce back. For a 9mm in most guns is about $100 more than a .40. Ill keep buying them at these prices bc they will bounce back.
Any idea why the sudden disinterest in the .40? I carried a .357 magnum when I started my career but as soon as the .40S&W appeared that was the only handgun round I carried until I retired. I've been involved in plenty of near death incidents and as a detective have investigated many officer involved shootings. I've seen badguys get hit more than a dozen times without going down and being able to fight, but never have I observed the .40 fail to end a threat within the first two hits.
I would assume you are talking about similar shot placement? The military and LE have changed firearms and calibers based on perceived hostile environments and threats. I'm convinced the military transitioned to the 9 mm due to the low percentage of personnel , especially women qualifying with the 45.
the bottom line on it is the 9mm is cheeper.. so they are making up some BS hype to justify the switch to 9mm just so they can save money. they know the 9 doesnt have the stopping power of the 40.(anyone whos shot both can clearly see that) but they dont want people throwing a fit on them before the switch is complete.
And remember the 1986 Shootout in Miami the feds went to 10mm and.40 because the 9mm was labeled as ineffective. The military went to 9mm because of NATO using 9mm and to NATO forces this made better sense to have a standard caliber. Now there was some talk that not everyone in the military could handle the .45 recoil hence 9mm. You can carry more ammunition and a larger capacity magazine in 9mm. Now with 9mm you can get back on target faster, but I would have better stopping power, remember you are responsible for all you shots fire and where they end up. Newer 9mm ammunition has improved tremendously. I still feel politics had a lot to do with switching to 9mm but the 1986 Miami shootout put the dampener on it. Like I said some feel that some in LE can't handle the recoil from .40-.45 hence smaller caliber, then there was politics. 9mm is cheaper ammunition but what does any politician care about that it's not their money. JMO and I have been wrong before. As a side note the feds learned that you shouldn't bring a handgun to a rifle fight. The FBI were outgunned at the time.
I'm not sure why there's such a sudden disinterest in the
.40 S&W, but can assure anyone considering to use one the round as developed is an excellent one. It has ballistics nearly the same as the .45 ACP and capacity just slightly less than the 9MM. It's the only caliber that I carried in my law enforcement career and is my everyday carry round today.
Ugh, it's in my cart, debit card info entered, all I have to do is hit the blue button. It's a sweet gun but 1 problem, it's a .40, nobody wants a .40. I may have a few beers then hit order.
I ordered at this same price a few months ago and don't regret it. I shoot mostly 9mm myself but wanted to try a 40. It's a smooth shooter and one of my favorites now. I don't really see myself getting anymore 40 cals unless they're too cheap to pass on. I do highly recommend the P229 in 40 though. I'm looking for a 40 to 9mm conversion barrel now to have on hand. I already have the 22 Conversion Kit and highly recommended that as well.
Currently sold out but they come back around from time to time - http://www.ebay.com/itm/Sig-Sauer-P229-40-S-W-to-9mm-Stock-Length-Conversion-Barrel-by-EFK-Fire-Dragon/332060036122?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649...
I know it's a really nice gun, I want it in .357. They have a conversion kit but it's an extra $400. My daily carry is an fnx-45 or m45a1, want something slightly smaller. I have 2 sig pistols and the quality is great.
Wait to order they don't honor price drops even from a 2 days previous and wait to see if price drops since an unpopular caliber currently
This is a steal! These guns run locally around $1000 or more. Fantastic weapon too, so butter smooth and accurate as can be.
Recently picked up the .40 SAS version. My first .40 pistol and immediately my new favorite. Incredibly smooth, perfectly weighted and balanced and shoots as straight as can be.
