I own one of the bigger models. I really like this company but my name is on the product so I’m biased. I use them while camping in the blue ridge and they work fine. I haven’t ever gotten sick but I stay away from stagnant, dirty water. I’m sure it could handle it but why risk it

These are old technology they only go through the .1 microns . I traded mine for the new Axmda water filter, it goes down to .03 µm which gets 99.9999 waterborne diseases parasites etc. . They also give you a bag to squeeze water through it rather than having to suck it. These are just overpriced old technology technology that only goes down to 0.1 µm. That’s a pretty damn big difference.

These cannot be allowed to freeze. Any water left in the microtubules will expand and damage the unit.

Logic. One for $19.97. Two pack for $65.xx lol. 4 pack, sold out.

I used to drink out of cow troughs when hiking the CDT with this thing.

Did you finish?? I through hiked the AT in ‘05 and pumped water out of stuff I’d NEVER normally drink out of. (However that was an MSR mini works)

And only got really sick once....once. (Pig farms in VA bad for water quality downstream but great for losing quick weight)

Trying to figure out which one is best this or life straw? Also how do you back wash this?

It comes with a big syringe to backwash. For $20 this is the best one.

Sawyer processes clean water into a water bottle. Life straw processes it into your mouth. One let's you transport and share clean water, the other doesn't.

The Sawyer is better... no contest.

> 0.1 micro filtration vs Lifestraw's 0.2 = This filters better
> 100,000 gallons vs Lifestraw's 1000 liters = This filter lasts longer
> This is smaller than the Lifestraw
> This includes a pouch and straw.
> This can be attached to a water bottle or used inline in a water hydration system

It comes with a plunger to clean it (back wash).

Bought two from Amazon at a higher price last week. They just credited me the difference to the new lower price. Thumbs up.

Great product. In one of the pictures shown, they show two of the filter set ups. This is only one. Just a clarification so no one thinks otherwise.

Excellent product, I own two of them. No need to change filters regularly, which I like. I keep one in my hiking pack just in case I run out of water. The other is in my bug out bag.
