Description
Savage has added an adjustable gas block and longer barrel to stretch the out-of-the-box performance of its MSR 15 Recon platform even further. The Recon LRP features an 18" barrel to optimize velocities and accuracy, and its gas block can be customized to specific ammunition for the best possible cycling. Like the original MSR 15 Recon, it comes standard with upgrades such as a two-stage trigger, free-float handguard and Savage barrel. Its 5R rifling and a Melonite QPQ finish ensure the most consistent, accurate performance in any conditions, while the custom-forged lower receiver and Hogue pistol grip impart a look that stands out from the crowd.

And any prices under 900 are not real. Above 900 I have no idea where they will be set once they have them in stock.
I am not trying to argue price here so please do not take it that way. I Agree with you that prices will come down. The when and how much is what we all gamble on. I hope I am proven wrong but it won't be at "DEAL" price for a while unless the cartridge and platform falls flat on its face.
I am just trying to address your concern that this was priced at or above MSRP when it was 14% below MSRP. I can't speak for the bigger guys...

I would wait a bit for some competition to come into stock. This is priced at or near msrp. These should be mid-$800s to $900s.
MSRP is $1,249 listed both on Savage's website and the Distributor website. Unless they are wrong. Wholesale cost is more than the the price you are saying to wait for....
Since this is a new product on the market time will tell if they adjust the price point downwards but for now it is what it is....
And I could've sworn they said either $1099 or $1079, but I don't recall exactly if that was msrp or the advertised retail. Regardless, the price list listed on the post seems to show otherwise, and when you consider the comparable 5.56 chambering I've seen in the $700's.
