So this may be a dumb question however i am getting mixed answers online. I do not have a "Cabela's" store near me. However I do have a Field and Stream/Dick's sporting goods store in town. I am trying to find out if they're the same and will accept Cabela's deals and gift cards. I see alot of people saying Cabela's has bought out these companies around 2016 and does accept Cabela's gift cards, promo's etc...I've also heard Bass pro shops are owned now by Cabela's. Does anyone have know 100% for sure who accepts what and or who owns what brand/stores? I'm really hoping that feild and stream accepts Cabela's promo's. Then again I guess I could just call them and ask...duh...lmao

Bass pro shop bought out cabela's. You should be able to use cabelas cards at bass pro shop. For sure not dicks and I'm not sure about field and stream. I would give them a call and see what they say.

I'll say it again. Awesome gun. Put a Boyd's stock on it. Makes it killer.

Vista and Cabela's suck. They sent me the shirt and cozy, but would never cough up the $100. They removed the phone # off the website now no way to bug them. Will not ever buy from Cabela's again

I have the 308. MOA with most factory loads.

Maybe I'm just old, and stupid, but I just cannot see why anyone would want a large, heavy rifle in .204 Ruger. I own this rifle in 6.5 Creedmoor, and it is a big brute of a gun. In my opinion the 12FV in .308 or 6.5 Creedmoor can do anything the smaller calibers can plus a whole hell of a lot more. The .204 Ruger is not a "One Trick Pony", it is a "Miniature One Trick Pony". .

Put a Boyd's stock on it you got a real nice rifle.

Yup. Have Boyd's At-One stock in Coyote.

Excellent rifles. I've purchased three in different calibers (.308, 6.5 Creedmoor, and .223) last year when they were on sale at $319 with $100 rebate. I also used ~10% off discount gift cards (Raise). I believe each rifle ended up being under $200.

There's also a $60 rebate on this rifle, so $336 - 60 = $276 after rebate. The other calibers are $420 - $60 = $360

These are awesome rifles for the price. Heavy, but very accurate out of the box. 26 inch bull barrel, top/side bolt release, Accutrigger. The stock is cheap plastic, but my .223 still shot under 1 MOA in the original stock, and even better once I put an HS Precision on it. That's with relatively cheap AE223GTV. The top bolt release is a big bonus if you're trying to get an aftermarket stock. The bottom bolt release works fine, but most aftermarket stocks are only cut for top bolt release.

I'm very tempted to get the .204 Ruger at this price, but I'm more inclined to go with the .308.

Yeah, I have literally been hoping all year that they would have a sale and rebate on this rifle like last year, but I want the .308 :/.

Savage is garbage, bought a .22 rifle and submit the rebate, always told me there’s something wrong, I took all the barcode and upload online. Never deal with them!

Update. I got both rebates. I got the $100 off so paid $269 plus tax. And I got the free savage t shirt and beer coozy. Clearly a $169 value. So the gun just cost me $100... lol ok t-shirt was a nice bonus

How did you get rebates?

They had 100 off rebate a few months ago

I got one of these in .308 3-4 months ago. Sub moa out of the box. Its heavy. But it's my target gun. Weight helps keep it steady. Very nice construction. Super high quality action, trigger and barrel. They make Boyd's stocks if you want to make it really cool down the road.

Wait for the August-December promotions. While you're waiting, pick up some Cabela's gift cards from Ebay for a additional 20% discount, and sign up for "Free Money" on Ebates. Last year I was able to get one of these in 6.5 Creedmoor for under $225 total with 9% tax included. If I had used gift cards it would have been under $165.

They finally opened a Cabela's near me a few months back. I called and they had 7 of the 6.5 Creedmoore rifles in stock. I drove in and picked one up. While I was there they sold 2 more and one was sold before I arrived. I feel like that I was able to pick one up. Fingers crossed for the rebate to go through

Does anyone know if this time around if they have settled the rebate issue? If you buy it within the rebate window will they honor the rebate if you don't get your gun until after the rebate postmark deadline?

I had an issue with a savage rebate last month. No upc on the box. Talked with rep via chat and sent me out a $100 gift card no problems

Spoke to the rebate center. They said you still need to send in the rebate form and copy of receipt by the postmark deadline and make a note in the rebate form that the rifle was in backorder and that you were waiting for UPC. Once rifle comes in you have to call the rebate center and they will give you instructions to update rebate.

Bought these in .223, .308 and 6.5 over the past couple years. Really cant beat em for the price. Got em all for around $200. The only thing I dont like is the stock is pretty flimsy. They still shoot pretty good outta the box and if you develop a load for them they shoot even better. Ive gotten them to shoot .5 moa or better.

I was able to get one in the end for about $165 out the door when factoring gift cards, rebate, and active junky. Pretty good deal on a budget rifle that should be sub moa.

Nevermind. I just figured out what activejunky is. That's pretty cool. Thanks.

How do you get it out the door for $165? Do you not have any sales tax where you live? I get the $100 gift card for $80 bit And military discount helps. Is there any other tip that I'm unaware of?

That’s when it’s for $219?

You have to buy the 20% gift cards in advance from eBay. They usually have a limit of 2/3 at a time though. Then the rebate and activejunky.

I had one of these in 223 and I really liked it's accuracy but did not care for the actual rifle itself (if that makes sense). The trigger was nice, my first experience with an accutrigger. My copy favored Aguila 55gr rounds. The built-in mag is not my bag, but that's just personal preference. Weight was over 10 pounds with my scope set up. I ended up selling it because I was never able to fix the sticky bolt issue that some other savage owners experience as well.

The first batch of backorders is expected 12/8 from Savage. All of these are spoken for and will not be enough to fill all customer orders.

I find your post very informative. At 9:00 PM, CST tonight they are showing all calibers except .223 in "limited stock", with shipping to store in 5 to 8 days. Ever since the first $319 promo began on 9/7/17 this has turned into one huge extended "Goat Rope". The reappearance of "Limited Stock" over and over has to undoubtedly generated additional sales, along with false expectation. It's only logical to assume that each rifle ordered may generate spin off orders for ammo, optics ,and other accessories. Do you think Cabela's are gaming their customers????

I bought a 223 in this about a year ago and this thing is a shooter if I do my part..I went to my local cabelas on black Friday in hopes to pick one up in 6.5 creed but of course they were out of stock..They were $369 in store and I was going to pay that and then the worker told me I could backorder it...I get home and notice the price dropped $50 to $319 so I backordered it..After researching and seeing that I need the rebate to be postmarked by JAN 31 2018 I gave cabelas a call just to see how many of these are backordered...When I called cabelas I was stunned when she told me that 584 guns were on backorder with most of them being 6.5 creed..I hope Savage can keep up with these backorders but at $319 its still a good deal cause I bought my 223 at $419...So good luck on your backorder and lets see what happens

looks like these went back up to $369 just from a day ago..Man cabelas really knows how to stick it to you.........

Should be a good platform to build from, after stripping everything going to end up with a stupid cheap receiver

I see my local Cabela's has the 308 in limited stock. Is this worth buying to slap a scope on to practice long range shooting with the 308? Or am.i better off building an ar10

0 votes

You need to be at the store when they open and grab that sucker. For $219 you will have a good long range rifle. If you upgrade the stock, have it glass bedded and have the trigger tuned, you should end up with a great rifle. The gun plus upgrades should run you less than a good quality AR10 bolt and barrel would. I've done AR10 builds, and they can turn into "Money Pits".

By tuning the trigger you mean, taking it out of the stock and cranking it to 1.5 lbs. accutrigger are great factory triggers

Well crap looks like Cabela's in store is now out of stock. I'm gonna go tomorrow and see if I can order it through them online just to make sure I get the rebate

You are taking a gamble ordering this online that it will come in before dec 31st. Put it in order. If it don’t come in cancel it.
