First this is great gun. It's cheap, has a cool color scheme and it runs.. The optic comes with it, but the slide is not milled for it. It just has screw holes to mount directly to the slide which is not stable. You have to get the slide milled to do it right, but NEC Engravers has a service for this that's like150 bucks. The gun (METE model in OD or FDE) without the optic cost more most times when it's available so this is a good deal. I trashed the optic and added my own. No one reliably uses a 2MOA dot on a pistol anyway. This is something you buy if you just want the gun and want to give a red dot a go to see if you want to shoot with them long term but the optic just screwed in, as designed on this pistol, will not last without milling the slide for RMR footprint so it can be set properly without interfering with the actual slide mechanism. Empty a mag or two to get the feeling. Then, go do it properly if you must have this gun. Either modify this gun because it is great or just grab some night sights from SAR for $90, keep a great weapon, and go buy another pistol that's actually optic ready and get a real optic for it like holosun. Also, any SAR 9 or 9x slide is interchangeable with this piece. I put some money into this gun, but I love SARs and loved the color. I have the green one too with only night sights and both are great shooters.

I'm on the fence on this one. I love my SAR9 without an optic. Can anyone confirm if the optic just sits on top of this slide or is the slide milled? I can't tell from the picture. Thanks

See my comment above. I forgot to tag you. I have 3 SARS myself.

Bought the green one. See how long it'll take to get here. Transaction was smooth. Shipping is a bit high but I know from experience this pistol is worth every penny of the cost. Looking forward to having one optic ready. Already have 4 oof the regular SAR9's. They are now the sidearm I issue to my State certified armed guards in my company. Excellent, reliable, accurate, affordable pistols. I spent over 6 months doing my own range testing before making that decision. I am a firearms instructor and state certifier. You won't regret buying these! I tested side by side with the hk vp9, Glock 19, SIG2022, SW M&P 9MM. Hands down for the money SAR9 was every bit as good or better than others.

How many guards quit after you gave them their sidearm. Just kidding of course.

Does anyone know what Riton optic comes with this? Is it the MPRD2?

From Ritons website
"HOME/FEATURED/RITON OPTICS PARTNERS WITH SAR USA

Riton Optics Partners with SAR USA
February 7, 2022 by Emily Phillippi
Tucson, AZ (07 February 2022) – Riton Optics is proud to announce a partnership with SAR USA on the SAR9 X pistol. This pistol will be packaged and shipped with Riton’s MPRD 2."

So at a cost of $99-$125 for the Riton MPRD2, that makes an optics ready SAR9 at roughly $225-$230!. even with the $14.99 shipping it's still a great deal.

KygunCo has this with a Riton optic fur 279 with free shipping and no tax. Just picked mine up today. The optic alone is a hundred dollar bill.

They initially offered it but sold out after 3 days, I'd love to claim at this price as I missed that deal. Called their shop and it's been 'awaiting restocking since.

I own several SAR9's. In fact I am issuing then now to my armed guards in my company. I tested them myself for several months and they are absolutely rock solid, dependable and accurate pistols. This is a screaming deal! As far as holsters, we use the "omnivore" light bearing holsters by Blackhawk. The are universal duty retention holsters made for specific light models. They clamp down on the light itself vs the pistol. They work very well and are less expensive than some. They also have either belt slide or clip on feature. The pic is without the attachment yet.

Seems like a great deal..hell,it’s tough to find a pistol that is optic ready for this price much less one that is packaged with a red dot.I have zero experience with SAR but I’ve heard good things

Any reviews on these?

Tons of excellent reviews online. Hard to find any legitimate "bad reviews". Obviously like any brand a lemon slips thru but as someone who has personally spent 6 months and probably 2000 rounds testing these, I can tell you they are rock solid pistols, especially at the price. I am a firearms instructor and state certifier for armed security certification course. I now issue these to my guards now within my own company.

These look like the same pistol as the sar9 except with a slide cut for a red dot. Reviews have been good on the sar9 pistol. Only problem would be finding good holsters that would fit it. Also I believe you can use the mec gar cz mags with the pistol.

Mags are interchangeable with the regular sar9. In fact everything is the same except the slide has sharper milled frame cuts on the slide. The original has only about a 1/16" cut down the top corners of the slide but the METE OR version is cut about 1/2" for easier draw and less weight I suppose. Either way they are both awesome firearms. It's my personal opinion you can't get a better pistol for this $400 or less price range. All my armed security officers all carry the SAR9 now as do I.
