YOU'RE WELCOME!

CONGRATULATIONS on the WALTHER PURCHASE, it is definately the BETTER CHOICE. The P99 is arguably one of THE BEST POLYMER FRAMED PISTOLS EVER created, and you can't beat the QUALITY AND PROVEN RELIABILITY of the REAL DEAL Walther. Especially for $339, anyone who goes OUT AND BUYS SOME JUNK CANIK COPY when they can GET THE REAL DEAL FOR LESS MONEY is crazy.

We're does the junk canik part come from lol. Most of the walthers p99 ppq parts are interchangeable with the tp9sf line. The Turkish took the best parts from all sorts of guns an put it into one maybe the elite has a small problem but then. It's just getting a better recoil spring but that's it. The one thing people always talk about is triggers an it's safe to say that all these 3 guns have a really sweet trigger on em

Yes, you can get the .40 P99 for $339 +shipping, and maybe even the compact P99 (P99c) 9mm (I haven't checked recently) for $339 +shipping, but the 9mm full size P99s seem to still be closer to $500. Lots of folks don't want to settle for the .40. The MR9 is a good alternative. Your continuous comments about the MR9 being junk are so incredibly off base. The MR9 is effectively the P99 with different aesthetics. Walther provides the frames for the MR9's for goodness sakes. They use the exact same mags. It's not a junk gun no matter how many times you say it. I've shot countless rounds through both P99s and MR9s, and own SEVERAL (6) Walthers. You are spewing garbage. Established members at Waltherforums.com also agree the MR9 is a great pistol.

Between this and a Walther, I can't decide who wore the Hi-Point clones the best, Walther...err S&W or Magnum Research.
Wait! They're all one in the same.
Bravo.

Canik is a garbage Turkish clone of the Walther p99. The magnum research MR9 is a joint venture with Walther and Magnum Research. In fact the MR9's frame is made by Walther. The MR9 is a quality pistol.

Fired a canik tp9, multiple FTF, FTE with different mags and different quality factory ammo. Canik = garbage

I couldn't disagree with you more about Canik. I've owned a TP9SA, a TP9SF, a TP9SF Elite, and a TP9SFX, and after thousands of rounds, I've experienced one -- one -- failure with any of them, a FTE after having shot nearly 600 rounds on a range trip. Canik is a NATO certified manufacturer and makes a quality pistol at a good price.

I agree that this pistol is a Walther clone, and you are right that the frame is made by Walther. The MR9 is indeed a quality pistol. But I'm not sure how that drags Canik into this equation.

@pc, it is a buyers market, so lots of great deals on guns that are not selling out. Doesn't mean they aren't great guns. The MR9 doesn't have as much fanfare as the Desert Eagle and not as well known as the DE or the P99. The P99 is a fantastic gun, but a little pricey and it doesn't have a large recognition as, say, Glock. The P99 AS is awesome, but the P99 with the QA that I own, not so much. I'm not a big fan of the QA trigger.

I just ordered one of the MR9s from Hyatt. Reviews of this gun are really good. Free shipping and no cc fee is a big plus on top of the value you get for this gun. Besides, if they happen to drop the price back down to $379, I have price protection on my cc!

My question is if these are made the same as the P99 why are they not selling out.

Since you bring it up, the P99 and PPQ are two different guns with different designs. There is no such thing as a p99m1 or p99m2. There was generation 1 and gen 2 p99 handguns.

The ppq m1 and ppq m2 have completely different designs and striker mechanisms compared to the p99. The Walther P99 continues to be a fantastic pistol that MR clones.

Correct. I own the P99AS, PPQ M1, and the MR9. All are fantastic and all are easily worth $400 compared to other pistols in the class. The PPQ is probably my favorite striker-fired pistol, and the P99AS is my favorite full-size carry pistol because of the anti-stress trigger. The MR9 is just like it, with he biggest difference probably being that the paddle-style mag release is shorter on the MR9.

The best part is that I have been able to interchange magazines, holsters, and even sights between the three.

If you can find a new full sized Walther P99 for less, buy it. I have a P99C & learned from the shop I bought it at that Walther was discontinuing the P99, P99C & PPQ M1. I had to get one before they're gone. I don't like the PPQ M2 series nearly as much.

Sorry, I would not pay $399 for this. I have seen P99 M1 in the mid $400s after the M2's release.

M1 PPQ doesn't have the AS trigger system. It isn't a better gun than the P99. . It was merely a divergent evolution of the P99s system without the AS trigger. It is not revolutionary, nor superceding it. Many groups (military and police still use the P99).

@spare201, you are correct! I was thinking of the PPQ (M1 vs M2), as of now there are no P99 M2 that I am aware of. Still would not pay for this for $399, I got my P99 half a Ben more.

21yrs of of MIL. and LEO service, the p99 is one the best sidearms manufactured. i own the AS, QA and PPQ 9's, would love to get my hands on the P99Q and PPQ M3.

Walther hired Horst Wesp (former GLOCK engineer) to head up the P99 project back in 1993. This is one of the finest sidearms manufactured. The P99/clones is still used by multiple LEO agencies worldwide.
Like the SS hood.

Good bet if you want a 9mm P99 alike. Finding an actual P99 outside of 40cal is tough RN. The barrel is hammer forged so I'm not sure what people were talking about an inferior copy. It's different cosmetically and the front doesn't taper like the p99's slide so front cocking would he a little more difficult. Both grips probably need texture to be less slick, which is fine. No texture to remove, easy peasy

I've owned one of these. It was a fine gun in everyway. No complaints at all. But a new Glock 34 was calling my name so off it went.

Not sure why I would want a P99 copy made with inferior steel and inferior machining; when I can buy the real deal for a few bucks more or in some cases (.40 cal or 9mm compact) for less. Nice try though

As someone who owns multiple Walthers, including P99's and P99c's, and has shot multiple MR9's, I will say without hesitation that the MR9 is not made with inferior steel and inferior machining. They are effectively the same weapon, only difference is aesthetics. I also use the Magnum Research mags in my P99's and PPQ M1s ... because they are exactly the same and probably made on the exact same line at Mec-gar as the Walther mags. The good folks at Waltherforums.com have discussed the MR9, and I have yet to see anyone mention any type of performance or quality differences between the MR9 and P99.

I have never been much on Magnum Research, but I bought one of the MR9s based on Walther building most of the mechanics in this firearm. Holy cow what a sweet shooting firearm and a deal too. I'm darn glad I didn't pass this up.

The P99 seems to be going for closer to $500 right now. Have you seen them around this range before? I'm about to pick one of these MR9's but am hesitant because of aftermarket support.

I have both the P99AS and the MR9. Everything aftermarket is the same--holsters, mags, even sights. The only difference is that the paddle mag release on the MR9 does not run the full length of the trigger guard like the P99.

I had a Gen1 P99, and the paddles didn't run the full length of the trigger guard on tat either. I had them on the PPQ and didn't like them as much as the little ones on my P99, which I assume these are like.

Two things one I checked on the layaway and they charge a thirty dollar fee which I believe is ridiculous, two why does the photo have a stainless barrel but in the videos the barrel is blued. Odd.

I don’t know anything about the handgun but the reviews I’ve read and watched on YouTube have been positive I’m taking a chance and ordering one. The company I have worked with before and is top notch they also have a layaway with no additional fees.

Honestly, this seems a like a great pistol. The DA/SA is an interesting feature but I really like the idea of a Magnum Research upper on a Walther lower. Per youtube, an extremely short reset which is fine by me! The only thing that seems to be nitpicky is that takedown involves a trigger pull but that neither here nor there. Anybody has any experience with these or the seller?

Yes, they are one of the largest independent gun stores in the country. You will be charged an additional $30 lay away fee, at least if you order it in the store, unless they have changed the policy. Not to mention the additional $12 "Brady Fee" if you buy in the the store itself and not online. Good people but not the cheapest in town for sure.
