I ordered a number of these in 3/8" thickness and have hammered them with hundreds of rounds of 308 168gn Amax's and they have hardly any wear. It's going to take forever to kill them- I'm certain I won't. My targets were gorgeous, the edges were perfect and durable and there was only a slight residue on them that I wiped off quickly before spray painting them.

I'm paying a monthly fee to post this thread here. I'm fine with you posting your links as you please but would appreciate if you would not compete with me on posts I am paying for. I seriously doubt you would appreciate me jumping on your thread if the situation were reversed.

Seriously?! This is a deal website. On your referral program it says you're fine with people posting the referral link on other sites. Posting the link here, on a deal website, gets people more of a deal and likey drives more traffic to your site. If that bothers you so much don't say that you're okay with it on your website. You make great targets, but I'm not a fan at all of the way you treat customers, and there are numbers of other companies with great reviews (here on gun.deals) who also sell great AR500 targets. So feel free to take any store credit I have and toss it in the trash, I'll take my business elsewhere you contradicting jerk.

Yes, seriously If you can not understand why someone would not appreciate this I will not waste my time here trying to explain it to you. I don't think I am the one being a jerk here. If you like you may call or email me and I will explain this to you in a way that you can understand.

Won't see me ordering from this company after reading their (apparently) response to a customer who didn't leave a positive report. It was waaaaaaay over the top of how a business should conduct themselves. A good business investigates their "suspicions" before airing out their juvenile speculative attacks on a public forum. It's quite simple.....Dear Sir, we'd very much like to have your invoice number and any pictures you could share with us to get to the bottom of this. We appreciate you sharing your dissatisfaction with what you believe to be our product. Please note that we don't cut our targets with any torches but rather use a laser cutter and do offer a lifetime warranty if you are dissatisfied. As an American company who does take pride in our products, we don't take reports such as yours lightly so we would appreciate that you provide us with as much information as possible so that we can resolve this matter together. Thank you again for reporting this, we are here to assist anyway we can.

I think your comment was stupid and sounded like some pretentious whining. I'll just down vote it and move along.

Agreed - over the top. I bought locally and I'm plenty happy with mine.

Ha ha - I saw the 2 guys who disagreed with your comments voted you down. Too funny. What I did notice is the owner actually confirmed the guys complaints yet later said he never got the e-mail. Duh??? Seriously move on - I agree on the over the top comment and glad you were able to find some inferior targets locally. Wait - you must be a sneaking competitor!!!

Of course I voted it down, much like Superman you are not a customer and have nothing useful to add here, kindly troll on somewhere else.

It was my suspicion this was not a customer at all but a competitor. If you had bothered to read the entire thread before posting your reply you would know that. It is for this reason alone that I responded as I did, I did ask for and am still waiting for that order number by the way. I admit I responded strongly I was quite upset at the suggestion that I do not take pride in my products and I most definitely do.

I finally got to use my targets this weekend, I made a collapsible target stand out of square steel and chain mounted the targets. I mounted a 10" bullseye, as well as 6" and 4" gongs. 300 rounds of 7.62x39, 120rds of 5.56, 150rds of 9mm and 160 rds of .45acp later the targets showed no signs of any damage, next chance I get I'm gonna hit one of the smaller (read: cheaper) gongs with some surplus 54r and see what kind of damage ensues. They seem like the real deal for a good price, the service was great and the bullseye gong is awesome to shoot at.

I tried to place an order but the coupon doesn't seem to be working for the advertised 10% off. Instead it's giving me less than 5% off the order (more like 3%). I clicked the "+" sign next to the discount line item and it indeed shows the gun.deals discount so I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong here.

I figure these will pay for themselves in a couple of years vs. doing the annual membership at the local range here!!!!

It's 10% off of a SINGLE item. My prices are already 20%-50% less than the competition so I don't have a ton of room to drop prices and stay profitable. I'll try to make that more clear, thanks for your business.

Ah - got it. Sorry I didn't get it but appreciate your fast response and for clarifying it. I figured it had to be something I was doing... ;)

PS - I tried the "Cancel Coupon" button and it refreshes the page but does not remove the coupon at all. Maybe it's a browser thing so will try on a Windows computer and update accordingly.

Anyone else having problems with the discount??? Is it still valid?

I bought the bullseye Torso and a gong in Half inch plus the stand, they also gave me a small gong for free. I am very pleased with all of them. The initial quality I thought was fine considering the product. There was some "scale" I guess it is called and they were a little dirty to the touch. Definitely not rusty or badly prepared. A wipe off with a rag and a coat of cheap spray paint and they are GTG.
I wasn't sure about the stand but it was well worth it. Its easy to move around and set up and seems surprisingly durable. Took a direct hit from 9mm at about 30yards and while a hole was made the thing stayed intact. Plenty of shrapnel hits from other calibers but it shrugs those off. The plates themselves are ridiculously strong. 7.62X54r at 100 yards and nothing more than a discoloration on the metal. No discernible divot, just spray paint over them and they look like new. The only damage I have noticed is a mosin round caught the edge of one of the targets and took a tiny chunk out of it. Wish there was a way to post pics but honestly the damage is minimal. The moral of the story shoot better than me and my buddies (we are debating who is responsible for that one)
I had a piece of 2x4 that was about 5 and a half feet long that I used for the cross bar. I would probably recommend a longer piece, depending on the number of targets you use, to give the stand some extra protection. All in all its some of the best money Ive spent in a long time. Makes my shooting trips a hundred times more fun than paper and old milk jugs. If you are on the fence do it, you wont regret it. Seems like a good company, definitely good product and fast shipping. They will get my repeat business for sure.

Thank you for your review. I usually recommend going with a 10' 2x4 (if you have room to bring it with) to avoid pulling shots into the legs. Thanks for your business!

I've gotten a couple of targets from them, the IDPA torso and a 12" gong, both in ½" thickness. I've not seen a bad edge, as both of mine have nice clean ones. They did have scaling, but seen that on targets I've gotten from other stores as well.

I've hit them with everything from '22lr all the way up to a .338WinMag with no problem. Nice to have the large, heavy (46#!!) torso as the .338 really hits it hard - I've hit smaller targets with it and wrapped the target/chain combo around my stand like a swing set, or just knocked it over. Not so with the torso - it shakes off the hits like a champ. Same for the 12" gong. Even hitting them with 5.56 62g SS109 (so called "penetrator" rounds) at 50 yards left no real visible damage, just a very slight divot that gets filled with lead when the next round impacts the same spot.

I'll be buying some more - with free shipping it's the best deal going for me in AK

Thanks Capt! Appreciate the good word! We love to hear from happy customers. As you can tell, we use ONLY American AR500 steel from ALRO USA. No cheap Chinese crap here.

I got the 1/2" silhouette with the bullseye. The price was fair, but I wasn't thrilled with the target overall. When I buy American, there is a level of quality and attention to detail that's expected. I have faith the product will function as promised, but the finish of the product left room for improvement. First off the target I received was filthy and rusted. A few minutes with a wire brush and soapy water should take care of it, so that's not the end of the world. But that's not all. Not sure if this was cut with a torch or a plasma cutter, but it left a lot of burrs, dripping and deformed metal. Someone gave them a quick pass with a grinder, but didn't put much heart into it.

Again, I'm probably just being picky. But I'm used to being spoiled by American made products. I haven't had the chance to shoot it yet, and I'm sure it will perform. So don't let this review deter you. Just know not to expect aesthetic perfection.

your going to shoot it right? or did you buy for display

I was pretty clear that I felt it would function properly. Does that mean I can't comment on its appearance and attention to detail? Some folks take pride in their work/products and would like to know if they have opportunity to improve.

I clearly stated I was probably being picky, but made in America means something to me. I set a higher standard for myself and my countrymen. Others don't, that's your choice.

I find your comments insulting and your statements reek of an unethical and inferior competitor attempting to discredit my products. Please email me with your order number and pictures of this bad cut quality you speak of.

I am a combat veteran as are my grandfather, father and son. I take a great deal of pride in the my products and the fact that that they are made in America! love this country, I gladly put my life on the line to defend it.

No insult intended. And from what I can see none should have been taken. I'm not a competitor. I'm a joe schmow who dropped his hard earned money on your product. Some would call me a "customer". This is one man's review. That's it.

You can look at my history and see I'm not a hack. I'm glad you have so many sterling reviews. So I guess that means you've never had even one mistake. Everything you've ever done has always been absolutely perfect in every way? That's a pretty good track record.

You'll get my invoice number. I'll throw in pics of the shoddy grind job and rust to boot. And as someone who spent years in customer service, may I suggest you get a little thicker skin. Maybe you could see an impartial review as an opportunity to improve instead of an attack on your grandfather.

As I said initially (and in every subsequent comment), I was probably being a little picky, but I don't think I said anything out of line. In fact if you look below, you'll see I gave a thumbs up to your comment describing your manufacturing process.

You absolutely implied that I do not take pride in my products or the fact that they are made in America and I most certainly do. I found this to be insulting as would anyone.

I concede that you may have some surface rust on your target and even that the cut may be degraded somewhat where large deposits of scale are present. I do not dispute that.

It's very misleading if not spiteful for you to post on this thread that thousands of potential customers will see and say that you honestly can't tell if it was cut with a torch or not as you imply in your original statement.

I have thousands of targets on the rack right now and none of them would give anyone the slightest impression they were cut with a torch.

You've called me unethical, spiteful and misleading, yet you claim to be the one insulted. Firstly, the comment regarding having higher expectations from American made products wasn't directed to you. This should be obvious based on the fact it was a reply to someone else. That again coupled with the fact I "liked" your reply explaining your manufacturing process should not leave any room for your continued indignation and insults.

Allow me to provide a service interaction that could have happened instead of this waste of time.

Me: My order had rust and a few rough grinds.

You: Sorry to hear there were a few cosmetic issues with our product. I am confident it will perform as promised or better, but if that is not enough for you our valued customer, we offer a 100% money back guarantee. Thank you for your patronage.

Me: Like I said, I was just being picky. I'll grind and paint it to satisfy my OCD. I look forward to your next sale. I check your emails regularly. Thanks for the assurances on the guarantee.

It's that simple.....

I've had some issues with competitors directly or indirectly attacking me on multiple sales channels.

I personally find that practice disgusting and I will be the first person to admit it's a sore spot with me.

If I misidentified you as another one of those attacks I genuinely apologize for that.

Thank you for the reply.

To avoid any confusion I would like to say that we do NOT use a torch OR a plasma cutter for our targets. Furthermore most of our customers are amazed by the cut quality we obtain. That said, occasionally the cut quality can suffer a bit if the piece of steel has excessive mill scale but this is to be expected with AR500 even with the best equipment.

The bottom video on this page shows some of our targets being laser cut
https://shootingtargets7.com/store/customer-submitted...

ShootingTargets7 targets are 100% laser cut on a brand new top of the line Mitsubishi CNC laser.

Our pricing is VERY VERY low compared to the competition. We do not paint or prep our targets because the cost would have to be passed onto the customer.

AR500 targets are commonly painted after every round of shooting so shipping a target painted makes no sense whatsoever to most consumers who greatly appreciate our low prices.

Additionally, AR500 is NOT regular steel it is not smooth and pretty. AR500 has a very high carbon content and has a lot of mill scale. This is completely normal, all of this is explained in the FAQ sheet that shipped with your target you must have missed.

I can assure you once you use it you will find it to be of the highest quality. It would be highly appreciated if you would update your review after you have had a chance to shoot it.

Thank for your business and I am sure you will get many years of enjoyment from your purchase.

-Mark

Mine arrived with a bit of scale. A quick coat of self-etching primer and some orange paint and it looked just peachy.

I've taken my 3/8" 'killzone' target out now several times and can say that it has taken edge hits without slicing like torch or plasma cut plates do (I have some of those for comparison). It does chip a bit at the edges, but it does not get the big 'melted' looking slices that my plasma cut plates get on edge hits. This plate has taken hits more like AR550 with almost no marking at all from 5.56 at 100Y on center-plate hits.

Excellent for use from 100 out to 600 yards given its size. Quite pleased with both the target itself, not to mention the pricing and very affordable shipping. I'll be buying more that is for certain. Most likely one of those bullseye targets.
