Well I own all three , the Zastava n-pap , o-pap , a romanian cugir , and a Saiga. In terms of Quality the Zastava wins against almost every ak on the market , The siaga is also a nice , original russian made ak platform with good finish , good fit and chrome lined barrel. The romanian one is meh at best. The Plywood furniture , the terrible finish and tooling marks all over everything is pretty rough. The only benefit the Romanian has going for it over a Zastava is the chrome lined barrel. Thats the ONLY thing better than a Zastava. Most People dont shoot Corrosive ammo anyway so its really a feature most people dont need.

Interesting way to describe the safety on an AK. " The elongated selector handle allows for a smooth transition from safe to semi-auto." Works great if you are ET.

Remove right hand, reach up, pull down, vice flick the safety on or off with your thumb on an AR, no need to remove hand.

Wow, almost seems that the AK is the only firearm with a spring loaded mag release. " The spring loaded magazine release provides for quick magazine changes" But not as quick as an AR, cause you have to use that "comfortable, ergonomic operating handle makes charging the firearm effortless" to chamber a round cause the AK does not have bolt hold open while changing the mag.

The write up makes it seem those are all positive traits.

Dude, as an "expert" on the AK platform, I have to call you out as full of shit.

The WASRs are reliable guns, but are NOTORIOUS for crooked sights, finish and fitment problems, etc. The Cugir/Romarm variant they are based on is a great weapon.

That said, the Zastava is far nicer in terms of finish and fit. If you received a Zastava that was bad, it was an exception to the rule.

As for "why" anyone would buy a Saiga, they are Russian made. Same reason one would buy, say, a real Colt 1911 versus a Brazilian made version.

Not everyone can afford a top-end Kvar AK, or a VEPR.

Plus, the Saigas can be converted and customized easily, which some folks find to be a great pastime.

While I have only owned Zastava(s) so I have no idea of how they compare to other AKs I do know that you cannot win a 'Ford vs Chevy' argument simply by stating you are an "expert" and pointing out problems in the other item. Zastavas have problems too and it is not an exception to the rule. Don't get me wrong, they are indeed great rifles.

Wow, the $480 make offer actually worked. I bought one only because I missed out before.

As to the down vote by someone, it is for bad retailer. I, myself, have had a bad experience purchasing a firearm from Buds along with five good experiences.

YMMV

Ignore the zastava comment. Look at a wasr for a better rifle with better build quality and barrel than anything zastava could ever put out with that almost zero QC

Why do they not list the rear sight distances in meters? 300 meters makes much more sense than 328 yards. I am pretty sure that is what the Russians were after and I think only but the most antimetric will be able to handle this.

I can't believe how high these are now.

I got mine for 299.99 in late 2012, early 2013.

They are awesome, though.

No online sales for the rest of us.

If you live in California, you should get this.

Why would anyone want to buy one of these with so many better ak variant options available for the price range?

Better AK for $480? I hope you are not talking about all the Century offerings.. Can you please list, or better yet link some of the better deals on better rifles? I traded both of my Arsenal rifles but can remember reading Saiga on them. So if they are using receivers and barrels from Saiga then i dont think they could be too bad.

Completeness of collection.

I already own at least one of every AK in this price range. Gotta have at least one of these.

Because it is compliant in the gun grabber stalags like Kommifornia and Newyorkistan.

Does this accept larger mags?

Just get a zastava. You'll be happier.

Yes it will accept regular 30 rd mags but it requires a bullet guide be installed ... They run about $15 and require you to drill and tap a screw hole in the front trunion.
