Description

Ruger® Security-9TM 9mm Semi-auto Pistol Born from the personal protection pedigree of the old Security-Six Revolver, the all-new Security-9 Pistol delivers the same solid construction, absolute reliability and affordable price that made its predecessor such a hit. But unlike the Security-Six Revolver, this is a modern firearm with modern materials and a modern ergonomic design that makes it easier to carry than other mid-size pistols. The Secure Action is derived from the reliable and proven hammer-fired LCP II fire control system, combining the smooth trigger pull of the LCP II with the short, crisp feel and positive reset of a single action. The internal hammer provides strong ignition force yet allows for easier slide racking—and won't catch on clothes or holsters when drawn. The low-profile safety is likewise very unobtrusive on the draw, but is still very easy to operate. The contoured grip tucks nicely into your hand, giving you easy access to the trigger and mag release. The grip itself is what Ruger calls a medium texture…it's not too aggressive, but still easy to hold onto. And the kicker? We tried it out in a few Glock 19 holsters, and it fit beautifully. It's easy to carry. It's a joy to shoot. For protection in a pinch, reach for the new Ruger Security-9, the ultimate mid-size carry gun. Compact for easy concealment, the mid-sized Security-9TM is designed to fit a variety of available holsters and concealed carry options Rugged construction with blued, through-hardened alloy steel slide and barrel and high-performance, glass-filled nylon grip frame Precision machined, hard coated aluminum chassis with full-length guide rails Secure Action System combines the smooth trigger pull of the LCP® with the short, crisp feel and positive reset of a single action Dovetailed, high-visibility sight system with drift adjustable U-notch rear sight and fixed front sight Internal hammer provides strong ignition force, lessens the force required to work the slide, and won't catch on clothing Textured grip frame provides a secure and comfortable grip Safe, easy takedown with no special tools or trigger pull Safety features include bladed trigger safety; manual safety; neutrally balanced sear with significant engagement and strong spring tension; and hammer catch to help prevent the hammer from contacting the firing pin unless the trigger is pulled Includes two 15-rd. magazinesOrder today! • Its a cheap well made reliable compact gun from a company that has a great track record of taking care of customers. I got mine for $270 shortly after release. Its not a particularly interesting gun other than it is a good balance of features and price. A perfect inexpensive 'only one gun' choice. Mine sits on my bed stand with a laser light combo. I dont love it but its like a good dewalt drill... a reliable tool for the job.

  • How you feel about this gun reflects on how much you paid for it. if you got it for $300 or thereabouts - you're probably pretty happy. If you pay $400 for it - like I did at the height of panic buying you probably don't like the gun as much. As far as function - it's brilliant - super reliable - relatively easy trigger to manage. The size is a sweet spot for a concealed carry gun. But everything else about the gun is pretty mediocre. The sights it comes with are the "U - dot" ball in a cup type Glock sight - which nobody thinks is a good idea. The traction on the grip is pretty slippery - which is probably good for concealed carry because it won't chafe against your skin - but not great for shooting if your hands are sweaty or wet. The trigger is OK - it's a DAO type trigger and is pretty easy to manage. Magazines are a little too expensive for this gun to be a budget gun. For about the $400 price point the Security 9 will get the job done - but there are other options - like the Canik that will make you feel special and do just as good a job.

Glocks are for pussies they can't carry 1911 cuz they need a little Palmer handgun ..... I still take my 1911 GI over everything or my Colt Commander? You're probably that dumbass that was on the other thread saying that guacs were going to replace revolvers in a couple of years

Actually, Mr. Sweats, the Security 9 is named this because Ruger wanted to make this gun California compliant by making a single stack magazine that would both fit securely (security) and limit the magazine by only allowing 9 rounds (9). Innovation by USA companies like this makes me proud to be an American.

You guys are so ill-informed, I suspect you might be joking. But if not: it's called the Security 9 because Ruger used to make a popular revolver called the Security Six. This gun's name is a callback to that gun.

Also, this gun will never be California compliant, no matter what size the magazine is, because California law now requires the gun to include microstamping, a technology that doesn't work. Ruger (along with Smith & Wesson) even made a point to announce about three years ago that they wouldn't be designing any new guns for California's idiotic laws.

In any case, why would they design a single-stack magazine to fit into a double-stack gun, when they could just use a limiter on the follower to limit the magazine capacity?

it has thicker walls to the clip. it is another clip you can get for it other thanthe ones it comes with. and it makes it california complant.

I really like the design of the trigger, hammer and safety system of the Security 9 as well as LCP II. It feels like a single action pistol without firing pin block, very clean break. It will sell well

The 'striker fire' craze is finally dying down,,, That's fine by me as it's hard to beat the trigger on a hammer gun, whether it's a concealed hammer or exposed.

Looks like an exact clone size-wise as the S&W 2.0 Compact. Maybe fit Glock 19 holsters too. After-all, as they say, "designed to fit a variety of available holsters".

I have an SR9E with over 500 malfunction free rounds with different ammo. This is a nice handgun but not that much smaller then the 9E. 9E was shipped for $248.00 and bought 2 extras Mags for 31.99. It looks like Ruger was trying to build a handgun that is between the LCP 9mm and the SR9 if so this handgun should have been a little more compact with the same round count or a few less. On a side note come on Ruger start shipping guns with at least 2 magazines.

This one does come w/2 Mags, as all guns should (at a minimum). Love Ruger, but one mag is just ridiculous.

    Soo, a SR9c?

    2 votes
    0 votes

Same thought. SR9c is a great gun and you can plug in high cap mags (SR9) and even buy stabilizer cover/adapter for part of mag that protrudes. AND it came with two mags from factory as all guns should. It would be great if this gun would take SR9 mags as well!

I think this pistol Is gonna be one of the best values available as of now. From everything I've read these are great. One feature I like is they are not striker fired like most polymer pistols today. Instead they have an internal hammer which makes racking alot easier. Perfect for those who have hand or strength issues. What I would like to see next is a compact version of this, a double stack compact, not single like the LCP. Overall reviews are very good and the price makes this very appealing.
