Description

Ruger® Security-9®
Features
• Compact for easy concealment, the mid-sized Security-9® is designed to fit a variety of available holsters and concealed carry options.
• Rugged construction with blued, through-hardened alloy steel slide and barrel and high-performance, glass-filled nylon grip frame.
• Precision machined, hard coated aluminum chassis with full-length guide rails.
• The Secure Action used in the LCP® II and Security-9® is derived from the reliable and proven hammer-fired LCP® fire control system. The Secure Action combines the smooth trigger pull of the LCP® with the short, crisp feel and positive reset of a single action.
• Textured grip frame provides a secure and comfortable grip.
• Dovetailed, high-visibility sight system with drift adjustable rear sight and fixed front sight. Sights can be easily changed out for different color options (available separately).
• Internal, Secure Action hammer provides strong ignition force yet allows for easier slide racking when compared with many striker-fired pistols. Front cocking serrations enable positive slide manipulation.
• Safety features include bladed trigger safety; manual safety; neutrally balanced sear with significant engagement and strong spring tension; and hammer catch to help prevent the hammer from contacting the firing pin unless the trigger is pulled.
• Safe, easy takedown with no special tools or trigger pull.
• Also includes: two alloy steel magazines.

  • Its a cheap well made reliable compact gun from a company that has a great track record of taking care of customers. I got mine for $270 shortly after release. Its not a particularly interesting gun other than it is a good balance of features and price. A perfect inexpensive 'only one gun' choice. Mine sits on my bed stand with a laser light combo. I dont love it but its like a good dewalt drill... a reliable tool for the job.

  • How you feel about this gun reflects on how much you paid for it. if you got it for $300 or thereabouts - you're probably pretty happy. If you pay $400 for it - like I did at the height of panic buying you probably don't like the gun as much. As far as function - it's brilliant - super reliable - relatively easy trigger to manage. The size is a sweet spot for a concealed carry gun. But everything else about the gun is pretty mediocre. The sights it comes with are the "U - dot" ball in a cup type Glock sight - which nobody thinks is a good idea. The traction on the grip is pretty slippery - which is probably good for concealed carry because it won't chafe against your skin - but not great for shooting if your hands are sweaty or wet. The trigger is OK - it's a DAO type trigger and is pretty easy to manage. Magazines are a little too expensive for this gun to be a budget gun. For about the $400 price point the Security 9 will get the job done - but there are other options - like the Canik that will make you feel special and do just as good a job.

$225 shipped is a sweet deal. American made, 2 mags, great size/capacity. Safe for a beginner too.

I’ve had my Security 9 for a couple years now. Put over 1000 rounds through and it’s ran flawlessly. Used to use it as my EDC but I changed to the SD40 for that and I use this as the house gun now with a mounted light. Recommend it 100%

I like Rugers too, but sure wish I could afford 1000 rounds right now!

It is good. I bought three of them because I love Ruger revolvers and the 10/22. I did have a malfunction when I went target shooting because I did not lube it nor did I clean it. I don't carry the Security-9 anymore because it has a safety. Other than that, it carries just fine. Glock 19 is my everyday concealed carry. Same dimensions but don't have to worry about a safety. I can get any accessory cheap and easy for the Glock. The negative is that the Glock costs the same as two Security-9s.

Ruger is the Taylor Made of firearms. They have something new every quarter. I like that. They keep it fresh and push innovation. Maybe one day I'll buy one.

I really like this one on paper. I need to go check it out in person.
