Ruger's patented double-frame cylinder lock was first used in this design. The original Redhawk was also the first double-action revolver specifically designed to handle the powerful .44 Magnum cartridge, and it pioneered the patented Ruger "single spring" mechanism for both hammer and trigger. Now these and other genuinely advanced features are also built into the impressive Super Redhawk and other Ruger revolvers as well.
