The Ruger® Precision® Gen 3 Bolt-Action Rifle is specifically designed for long-range, tactical shooting. The Gen 3 Precision Rifle comes with a new, free-float M-LOK® handguard that provides greater clearance with large diameter objective lens scopes, while the factory-installed muzzle brake features a hybrid port design that reduces recoil by up to 40–60%, and reduces muzzle blast, directing it to each side of the shooter's line of sight for enhanced accuracy and control. The upper receiver and one-piece bolt are precision CNC-machined from pre-hardened 4140 chrome-moly steel to minimize distortion, and a 20-MOA Picatinny rail is secured to the receiver with 4 #8-40 screws for superior rigidity. The bolt features 3 lock lugs, resulting in superior strength and a 70º throw, while the billet-aluminum bolt shroud offers lasting strength and durability. The Precision MSR buttstock attaches to an AR-style buffer tube on a left-folding hinge, and the adjusts for length of pull and comb height with simple tooth-and-groove adjustment knobs. The buttstock features QD sling attachment points, a bottom Picatinny rail, and rubber buttpad for enhanced comfort and stability. An extended trigger-reach, AR-style grip, and a 45º reversible safety selector provide easy manipulation with either hand, and the rifle is compatible with any AR-style grip or selector for superior versatility. The cold hammer-forged 4140 chrome-moly steel, medium-contour barrel boasts highly accurate 5R rifling, while the barrel nut enables close-tolerance headspacing, and a Marksman Adjustable™ trigger breaks clean to enhance accurate shooting. The Ruger Precision Rifle Gen 3 utilizes a multi-magazine interface that functions with AICS, polymer AR-10, and Gunsite Scout magazines. Includes two 10-round Magpul® PMAG®magazines.

I picked up a Gen 2 in 308 last year. From what I read the difference is the handguard (from keymod to M Lok), a different muzzle device and I think the 308 barrel is shorter. Gen 2 has the upgraded bolt sleeve the same as the Gen 3. These are very well built.

What’s the different between the gen 2 and gen 3? Is just more calibers available ?

New handguard, muzzle brake, and bolt shroud I think. Nothing major really.

Over pricing, next! I usually spend about $1k at Cabelas every year. Just imagine how much customers/money they lost.

Looks like an okay deal until you look at the price of ammo.

Cheapest stuff is over $1/rd.

Still not cheap even if you roll your own.

With that being said, if you want more than 1000yds, this is a great round.

I’d personally rather spend a little more on the ammo and upgrade to 6.5 or 300 PRC.

Same. I think the only advantage this rifle has is the price over the other two though.

The other two calibers you mentioned have better performance for sure. .300PRC seems to be picking up a lot lately.
