Not sure if Ruger addressed the issue with Russian berdan primed ammo cycling correctly. The mini 30 I have with a production date of March 2013, eats Tula ammo just fine. I might get a FTF once every 100 rounds, not bad for cheap ammo.

These are nice rifles, but do not get one if you plan to use any berdan primed ammo. That includes all russian and non U.S. made 7.62x39mm. Ruger designed this rifle to use soft primers which has resulted in a very unreliable rifle. What a shame, because I love the Mini14/30 format. I bought one last spring and then got rid of it after having FTF every three to four rounds and I refuse to pay U.S. manufacturer prices for boxer primed, brass case 7.62x39mm ammunition, which do run flawlessly. Ruger really pissed me off with this rifle. I would not recommend this rifle until Ruger addresses this problem.

If you want a cool looking and totally unreliable rifle that will only cycle 5% of the ammunition on the market than the Ruger Mini30 is just what you've been looking for.

Thanks for your review. Seriously. I was seriously considering this 30 over the AR10. This pretty much seals the deal for me. I used to have a 14 until I sold it. I regretted it ever since. I am going for a new AR10 build instead of this rifle. Thanks again.

You say it has issues with all Russian ammo? What about the Golden Bear brass coated ammo. Same issues? Thanks for your input as I am looking for ammo for the mini 30 I just bought.

best bet, try it and see. but Don't order a case of it ;)
It's a combination of the casing and the primer, but especially the primer...

Exactly. A few tweaks and proper chamber reaming on their part and it would be awesome.
