Description

Sturm, Ruger & Company, Inc. announces the introduction of the LCRx™, the newest variation of the revolutionary Lightweight Compact Revolver (LCR®). Chambered in .38 Special P, the LCRx™ features an external hammer that allows it to be fired in single-action mode.

The LCR® has three main components: a polymer fire control housing, an aircraft quality aluminum monolithic frame, and an extensively fluted stainless steel cylinder. When originally introduced, the Ruger® LCR® revolver was one of the most significant new revolver designs in over a century, and it has since been awarded three patents.

Well written review Green. As to the question posed by jjmll_Ruger. I don't know anything about a Ruger factory port, nor have I looked into its existence, however, I do know that guns like this and others are often be ported by 3rd party companies. If you or someone else is interested in this Magnaport has been adding custom ports to longs and handguns or whatever check out Mag-na-port. They have been in business half a century and do high-quality electrode oil submerged cutting I was put on to them by watching Jerry Miculek, he gets them on most of his auto and revolvers.

A friend bought one and I got to check it out thoroughly two days ago. It's definitely a new era in revolver technology. At first I wasn't aware it's a polymer handgun. The extremely lightweight feel was what cued me in to the polymer frame. The barrel is a bit thinner and lighter than similar revolvers, but has been press fitted into a polymer sleeve or upper receiver, whatever the proper terminology may be. So it's excellent in the appearance department. As for function it has your typically short, supremely crisp-as-a-crackpipe break and ultracrisp resets on the trigger. Groove rear sight with slotted or stairstep ramped front sight, no inserts, paint or dots, just a black groove and a black ramp. The palm swell grip is near perfect as long as you're not worried about having somewhere to park the pinky finger. One drawback I noticed whilst reloading in a move & shoot string of targets is the speed loaders get a bit difficult to wiggle around and drop the fresh ammo into the cylinder due to the rubber overmolded grip sticking out just slightly more than the angle of the loader can allow and still get free sans bullets. When I first became a police officer we used to "customize" our grips to accommodate the speed loaders using a pocket knife or whatever we could use to make a cut and slide the speed loaders past the grip. The gun is extremely accurate, even at distances normally not used for a semiautomatic pistol, or a larger framed revolver. I noticed on the barrel it is rated for up to +p ammo, which is plenty of power to stop a fool up to no good. The light weight does tend to let it produce a good bit of muzzle flip and jumpiness. The one I got the try out was ported, but I don't know if this one is. Great gun and great price in my opinion!

"The one I got to try out was ported"

Interesting! Ported 1.88" barrel. Not sure I've heard of that yet. Who did the porting?
Just to be clear, Ruger has NO factory ported LCR or LCRx.
