while this is a mainstay in alot of drawers and safes around the country, the price is good and its a fairly reliable handgun, those sights, or lack of sights turn me off... I know its a point and shoot but come on... at least give options...

I put a dab of white fingernail polish on the front sight of mine. I paid 160 + dealer fee some years back.

Replaced the recoil springs with stiffer ones, and added the +1 extended mag from Ruger.

Carried with staggered HP/FTX and FMJ.

If it was only that. I recently sold mine because I was tired of all the barrel and slide rust. The S&W Bodyguard is overall a much better gun. Can't wait till it goes on a good sale.

I have one of these LCP`s (the original model) and its several years old.
carry it in a pocket holster all the time.
I have never had any rust on the slide or barrel.
It has always performed perfectly through a thousand rounds at range.
Buy extra recoil springs from Ruger because they only last about 300 to 400 rounds.
The recoil springs are very cheap on ruger website.
I think you might have gotten one with a defective coating.
Ruger would have replaced it if you asked.
I also have a bodyguard 380.
Both guns have been great but I carry the ruger more often because it is lighter.
It is only a couple of ounces lighter but it does make a difference when in your pocket all day.
I bought the bodyguard because I wanted something with a safety for when I am riding my motorcycle.

I also have the ruger EC9 which is about the smallest reliable 9 mm you can get.
Also fits in a cargo shorts pocket.

The coating on my slide could be better. It's not rusty yet, but it hasn't seen much moisture. Barrel seems fine.
