I've owned two of these. They are light and small enough for pocket carry (I used an Uncle Mikes G19 IWB). However, both had broken firing pins within 200 rounds of using non + P hollow points, so I got rid of both and replaced them with a G27. I would not buy this product again. YMMV.

Owned one for a year now. Accurate as he'll, cheap and seems well made. Have 2 7 round mags and a 9. All work great. Shoots pretty much everything. Polymer, brass, steel, etc... Beaides a Taurues PT111, best compact for the money on the market. I have both. Very similar in size as well. I actually prefer the Taurus trigger over this one, it pinches after a while. Can't go wrong with it though. Great price here also.

I have this and the LC9S - In terms of value for money, the EC9 can't be beat. However, they are both excellent defensive point and shoot guns that are extremely reliable. Holster, lasers, and lights fit both weapons and are interchangeable between them.

Yep, unless a buyer has the intention to change the sights somewhere down the road, save the money and go with the EC9, its the only difference besides the price

Anyone get around the $10 ffl handling fee?

Buy it in your local gun shop, that is how you get around not paying that fee. I get around it by paying a much larger fee (membership) at a range.

I think the manual safety and mag disconnect safety might each be removable on this, but I could be wrong (and it may be a bad idea for legal reasons as others have pointed out). In any event, $190 shipped is the best price I've seen. I upvoted at $209 or $199, so it's been going down.

The Mag Safety can be disabled, there are YouTube videos on it, but you better be comfortable down to disassembly of the trigger group and good with small parts. When I bought my LC9s, I wanted the thumb safety because the trigger is sooo good, but intended to disconnect the Mag Safety, however, I ended up living with it.

I was thinking the same thing...there must be some regions that restrict sales without safeties on handguns. Since this has both a trigger safety and is drop safe, then one could just carry it without the manual safety engaged, right?

I have one a year. Never put the safety in safe position. It’s small and doesn’t get in the way.

This is the right idea. Don't engage the manual safety, and it won't be a problem. DO NOT disconnect or disable a safety in anything other that a competition gun that you are trained to use properly. If you ever have to use a gun in a defensive situation that you have disabled a safety on, god help you in court....

If I ever have to use ANY gun in a defensive situation, with the court system as liberal as it is, I might as well shoot myself with it and ask god for forgiveness. I don't disagree with you though.

I've read some reports where EC9/LC9 users have engaged the manual safety accidentally in-pocket/holster, but I have no idea if there's any truth to it (it's the internet after all, where almost everything is untrustworthy). One person even made a routine to always check the state of the safety (by touch/feel) when drawing the weapon, flicking it off every draw during defense drills (even if it was supposed to be off already). Personally, none of my pocket guns have manual safeties or mag disconnects, but I wouldn't fault anyone for whatever preference they have.

"If I ever have to use ANY gun in a defensive situation, with the court system as liberal as it is" = I have no point however I assume the reader is swayed by politics / emotions not reason or facts (you listen to a lot of talk radio?!?)

"I've read some reports" = I just made this up. (you listen to a lot of talk radio?!?)

"but I have no idea if there's any truth to it" = distancing self from claim just made to appear unbiased (you listen to a lot of talk radio?!?)

"but I wouldn't fault anyone for whatever preference they have" = my prior statements already judged you but distancing self from that opinion just stated to appear unbiased (you listen to a lot of talk radio?!?)

They make the LC9 Pro without a safety. Some states don't allow handguns without safeties...... It's quite a leap to say Ruger is a sellout just for manufacturing guns with safeties.

Hi Would you sell to the UK?

With the Uk's gun laws how do you plan on owning this? I thought they banned handguns decades ago.

I don't get why people are buying this crap when you can still get the Pro with real sites, no safety, no mag disconnect, and with a much better corrosive resistant finish for only $30 more.

1 vote
1 vote

Probably because of the price for the same exact gun. Use the money you save to buy ammo. Besides, who needs sights for a ccw?????? These ain't for target shooting. Besides, the aights on it are accurate, you may want to theow some paint on them as they are black on black. Thats what I did and they wirks great!!

Annnnd, some people WANT a safety. I dont understand why people cant grasp there are still people that like a safety.

3 votes

Not sure where you are getting your information from. You are not 'saving $30 today'. It is not '$30 more'. Better change that to $50 and some change. The cheapest you can get the Pro model today is from Guns Midwest for $250.53 shipped. It doesn't matter that you got it cheaper 2 weeks ago somewhere else...unless you can provide us with a time machine so we can get the same deal. Most people will probably be using this close up. Not a target 20-50 feet away from them. The sights do not have to be adjusted for long range. And most people spending two bills on a handgun won't be spending another $50-$100 upgrading it. And as you say..."You also do not know what the hell you may or may not want in the future." What if you decide you would really like a safely for this gun in the future? Well, you are shit out of luck if you buy that PRO model. As far as the corrosive resistant finish' on the Pro model...clean your guns more often and you won't have a problem with them corroding. This is a hell of a deal for this gun any way you look at it.

Awesome reply, thank you!

I personally do not care about adjustable sites on a pocket pistol, I prefer a safety, the mag disconnect is removable, and the standard finish should last a lifetime. Plus all the sites that have the "pro" model for $30 more rape you on shipping or charge a monthly membership fee. Your $30 is more like 25% extra. Only bad thing about the EC9s is the single mag but the factory ones can be found new on eBay for <$15

1 vote
0 votes

Actually, the mags are $24 on ebay. But since the Pro only comes with the one mag as well,he won't be saving $ on that fact.

0 votes
1 vote

They go for much less than $24 on eBay but of course it depends on what is currently listed.

0 votes
0 votes

You also do not know what the hell you may or may not want in the future. You don't know if you'll end up wanting usable sites or not. To add to all the other perks of the standard LC9s and LC9s Pro has over the EC9, you gain the OPTION to have night sites or fiber-optic or any type of sites you want in the future. All the pros outweigh saving $30 today. If you keep the gun for years, that $30 you spent will seem like nothing.

If these were the same exact price as the LC9 Pro, I'm will to wager that 99% the guys who are rationalizing the purchase of the EC9s over the LC9s/Pro would have choose the LC9s/Pro. Some of you just need to admit that the ONLY reason you choose the EC9s was to save $30, and not because you rather have milled in sites, the EC9s is better in any way, etc...

1 vote
0 votes

Absolutely correct...well sort of.I found out the hard way you shouldn't cheap out on a gun purchase. If you can't afford the $30 now, just save up or wait for it to go on sale. But if this is all you need, buy it.As cheap as this is,you can probably sell it for almost what you gave for it.If this is you cc gun,you will probably be doing less aiming and more point and shooting.

Even of you paid exactly $230, that is still a 15% percent surcharge for items I don't want and is sacrificing a major item I felt was important. A minority want a safety? A majority of semi autos have a safety...your numbers don't add up. I can be damn sure I am not going to be throwing $50 fiber optic sites on a pocket pistol 2 days or 2 decades from now. I'm sorry you are so offended I bought the gun I wanted for the price I felt comfortable with....

0 votes
1 vote

Oh there you go again being intellectually dishonest just like you were when you described the price difference in your earlier post... First of all, I said "semiauto SINGLE STACKS" which you conveniently left out. Second, striker fired semiautos are the most owned, most carried, and most popular on the market. The LC9s/EC9s are both in the striker fired category. Dang near all and especially the most popular brands do NOT have safeties. Th

Like I said, most do not want or feel they need it on a striker fired pistol, and it's not really needed. It's your numbers that do not add up.

1 vote
0 votes

"Semiauto SINGLE STACKS?" Like the M&P's Shields, Body Guards, Rugers, etc that every gun store will have a DOZEN models with safety's to every single "Pro" model? Yeah....

Sorry dude, your opinion is obviously more valid then mine. Enjoy your gun and I'll enjoy mine....I just won't shit on others for making a
different decision so I can sleep better at night.

BTW, where exactly did you get that Pro model for $230 shipped?!? You omitted that huge part of your argument ;)

0 votes
0 votes

You are in the minority who wants a safety on a semiauto single stack, but that's fine for you, but not for most people. The rest of your comments are flat out wrong. I paid $330 shipped last week. No extra 25% fee nor do I have to pay membership fees like you tried to overly dramatize to booster your argument, and to justify your purchase.

Midway USA has mags for this on sale for $16

https://www.midwayusa.com/product/230134/ruger-magazine-ruger-lc9-lc9s-ec9s-9mm-luger-7-round-steel-blue-with-finger-rest...

Cabelas will also price match so you can do the 15% off with one of their $25 gift cards from raise. So my experience is I got the EC9 out the door (including taxes, price match, gift cards, retailmenot etc..) for $180. Then the two mags cost $31 (out the door including taxes etc...) maybe took me 20-30 minutes total to do both transactions.

10-15 minutes of work and not bragging passing it on incase others would like to take advantage of the savings. I believe that is the point of this site. Ordering from anywhere else would run me $210-220 shipped + $20 to my FFL. Saving $55-65 dollars most definitely worth 10-15 minutes.

Purchased from Cabelas. Had Cabelas price match the Ruger EC9s to Sportsmen's Warehouse sale of $219.99. Bought $225 worth of certificates for $183.50 with the current Raise.com deal. With Maine tax of 5.5% the total for the EC9s was $232.09. $7.09 was charged to my CC after the gift cards. Total out of pocket cash was $190.59. Also took advantage of retailmenots.com's $15 back on purchases over $150 at cabelas. Total out of pocket for an EC9s with will be $175.59 including tax. Excluding tax my cost will be $163.49. Not to shabby for a great little gun!

You need to select and FFL dealer that is somewhere near you, have it sent to them(when purchasing online you would enter your info in the customer field, then enter the FFL info in the delivery field). They would then need to send this company a copy of their FFL license. Once the gun arrives at your local FFL you would then go to the local FFL dealer to pay the transfer fee(fill out the paperwork) and pick up your gun. At least that is how it works here in Texas.

I'm a cheap SOB but that's a whole lot of work to save not a lot of money. Honestly you have 6 hours invested in researching, buying, filing, etc (not counting the hours you spend bragging and calculating). Too each his own but I'd rather invest my time elsewhere.
