Looking back at the comments is quite telling of the ridiculous price gouging happening all over. This exact gun was under $300. As of today its now over $700! Yeah no thanks... price gougers can kick rocks!

Got mine yesterday. Love it so far. Only put 100 through it. Got the one with the black barrel so the recall got done already. I’ll circle back if I have any issues.

I've been looking for a CC weapon that is more "carryable" than my Glock 17.Not that the 17 is a burden just looking for something a bit smaller and lighter. Was getting close to pulling the trigger (pun intended) on a Walther PPS M2 9MM LE , and then I saw this deal. Both the Walther and this Ruger look pretty decent but I'm wondering how "compact" the Ruger can be with a 17 round capacity?

Got mine last week, feels great in my hand, have not fired it yet. Be advised, there is a safety bulletin on this firearm. Here is the link:

I called Ruger about the recall, and I found out that if you buy this firearm and receive a "black" barrel, it has been retro-fitted.

Just an update, mine came in yesterday. Pistol is fantastic with the update, but this particular model comes with the 10 round magazine and a 17 rounder. There is no 12 round mag with this one.

I just bought this last night. I already have one that I sent in for the retrofit. It came back with a brand new slide assembly, black nitride barrel and guide rod spring assembly. As a reward for fantastic customer service from Ruger, I bought this one from CDNN. This one is with the new black nitrided barrel as well. Fantastic deal. Plus they're offering 4.99 shipping plus the 4.75 signature through today. Total upgraded pistol for under 310 delivered.

Just got mine from CDNN same config as this deal. I love it. It is a bit late to the party and the name is cheesy but this thing feels great in hand. Size is perfect. I am digging compacts with 12 round capacity like the S&W M&P 9C and Taurus G2C right now. They fill so many roles to me. Reset a bit longer than I would like but trigger is good. Grip is great. Looks good. 17 round mag feels goofy but that would be for the range or emergency reload anyway and who cares at that point. I have the pro model with no safety and paid 299 before shipping and tax and transfer. Recommended

I have one with the safety. It's an awesome gun. Shoots great and built like a tank. It has a removable chassis which I took out to clean. Don't advise taking it out anymore, something happened the 2nd time and would not go back in right, it's back at Ruger to put back together. Their customer service is fantastic, they sent me a prepaid label. The magazines are incredible quality. The only other issues, the 12 round magazines have new springs now, mine did not come with the new springs. Emailed Ruger and they sent the new springs immediately. I also had an issue with the spring coming off the guide rod. Emailed Ruger and the sent me a knew guide rod assembly immediately. I have a XD Mod 2, Sig P320 subcompact, M&P M2.0 4" compact, this Ruger American Compact is the one I seem to like the most. I love them all, but the Ruger just seems to melt in my hand better.

I like the Ruger firearms I own, but they lost my business when they decided to make the American pistol magazines incompatible with the SR mags in the same calibre. It would have been very easy to keep them interchangeable. I have lots of mags for SR9, but if I wanted to add an American 9mm to my stable I'd have to start over buying mags. No thanks Ruger, I've moved on to other brands who care about customer loyalty.

What companies would those be who have magazine compatibility across different lines?

Glock brand Glocks

With the exception of the slimline / single-stack models (which aren’t magazine compatible), Glocks don’t have different model lines. Their numbers differentiate caliber, slide / barrel length or grip length. Beyond that, they are exactly the same gun. Same operation, same manual of arms. Ruger has made different pistols, P-series, SR-series, 22/45 series, American series, etc. Glock only has two model lines, standard and slimline.

I rather get the M&P 2.0 4" or 3 .6" with rebate vs getting one of these. ...

I have both, they're both awesome. The grip is easier for me to conceal with the Ruger American. The M&P Compact 2.0 has been pushed more to my home defense weapon. I do carry it sometimes though.

I was thinking the same thing. S&W will be running some great deals in the Fall.

It's a fantastic gun and price. If I hadn't just ordered a FNS 9c and a XDM compact, I'd get another one.

I had one. There is nothing special about it, but it performed as it should. This is a good value, but there are just so many good options out there that you could take it or leave it.
