My fiance bought this from Adam's gun shop and it had a terrible shipping experience. The box was completely mangled upon arrival and if the gun came with a magazine, it fell out of the box. Also the box still had the cabelas sale sticker on it. You get what you pay for I guess.

Great rifle. Great trigger. I'd take this over the 10/22 any day. That's me though. If you want a platform where you might have to throw a little money at it to shoot as good as this one does, stock. . . then the 10/22 is it. I like the 10/22, don't get me wrong, but I love the Ruger American.22. Have both. It takes the 10/22 mags as well. I paid $275 a couple years ago for mine at a local shop. Worth every penny. I think it's a pretty good deal at this price point.

Does anyone have any insight on why someone would ever choose this over a 10/22?

In my experience, 10/22s, while being semiautomatic, can be plenty accurate, and practically just as accurate as - very accurate bolt .22 lr.

Please educate me.

Suppressor host (threaded version anyway)- it's hard to run certain types of subsonic ammo through the 10/22, as some won't cycle properly and jam up.

Also, bolt actions are just fun in their own right

The main reason I can think of is for teaching a kid (or any new shooter).

Great price on a fun 22 bolt. Adjustable trigger, with even more adjustability obtainable via easy modifications. (Search Online) Had to sand the stock just a bit to get it to float 100% 24/7, but no big deal. The changeable stock inserts allow a fair amount of adjustability in LOP and Comb height. Nice bluing.
Uses the same mags as the 10/22s, so easy to find both 10 and 25 round'ers.
Wife and I both enjoy it,, We have a 3 X 9 - 40 on it and it's becoming common to keep all 25 inside an inch @ 50 w/CCI SV. Good times for not a lot of $,,,
