I agree, not really a deal at all. Those hi viz sights are available from Ruger for about 15 bucks right now. Also don't care that the barrel needs an 'adapter' to put regular accessories on it.

This also has the Hogue stock.

It would probably be cheaper to buy the stainless one of have the barrel threaded by a smith. This doesn't seem like a good deal.

You can't simply have a 10/22 barrel with sights threaded by a smith because the front sight is too far forward. They have to move the front sight backwards to make room for the threads, which is a much more complicated and expensive task.

Ruger is making it a PITA to get iron sights and 1/2x28 threading together without being a takedown. They sell a barrel in that configuration in their online store but want $200 just for it. Abortions like the one in this deal use a stupid adapter to get to 1/2x28, which I can guarantee my kids will lose the first time they take it in the woods.

Having a smith make one is even more expensive.

If Ruger ever figures it out and makes one with a birch stock, blued metal, iron sights, 1/2x28, and not a takedown, I'd buy 3 for my kids.

I'm still waiting.
