Description

Featuring our new Right To Bear Lightweight carrier, weighing in at approximately 6.8 Ounces, or 194.1 Grams for you lightweight build fanatics! Using our low mass Carrier creates less reciprocating mass moving back and forth inside the action, which reduces recoil significantly. Our lightweight carrier also allows proper cycling with less gas. When used in conjunction with an adjustable gas block & reduced power buffer spring, you can tune the gas way down, which will reduce muzzle rise and carbon build up.

The increased lubricity from the Black Nitride process allows you to take full advantage of its lightweight profile. The slick surface combined with our lightweight carrier, creates very little resistance and allows the rifle to cycle smoother and increases reliability.

Features:

- Black Nitride Finish for superior lubricity
- Weight: 6.8 Ounces / 194.1 Grams!
- 8620 Tool Steel (Carrier)
- Mil-Spec Gas Key (4130 Steel) attached with Grade 8 hardware and Properly staked

noob question probably. But whats the advantage of these lightened bcg's? whats the difference in performance?

If you have a setup and don't want unused parts sitting around this won't help. If you're doing a build and don't have parts sitting around then, in my experience, this isn't much of a deal and I tried securing the best deals on the parts. IME buying a complete group saves at least 10%.

Since MANY rifles come with M16 pattern carriers you can always switch to an AR15 carrier without the area to trip the auto sear of a machine gun.

What is the benefit of a lightweight BCG?

When used with an adjustable gas block you can tune your rifle to cycle properly with less gas pressure. The reduction of weight reduces the vibration felt from the bolt cycling back, and forth. Less gas also means less debris passes into the bolt, and receiver, and reduces fouling and cleaning. In my opinion, if someone wants to try one of these they should also purchase a good quality adjustable gas block.

To add to what duncanjc mentioned; It will also help with suppressed rifles using sub sonic ammo.

To add to what duncanjc1 and hossmonkey, there is a small section of the AR community OBSESSED with the goal of having the lightest weight (but still functional) rifle possible. They will spend big money just to drop an ounce or two.

If it was lightening of the receiver, handguard, etc. I would agree with you but most would agree a lightened bcg is more about fine tuning your rifle

Using a lighter metal like titanium would be smarter. This is kind of a novelty thing for people who like less weight, for whatever reason.

Not to mention that a lighter weight BCG means slightly less recoil.

Or that it can cause cycling malfunctions. I'm surprised they're not making barrels with cutouts yet.

isn't that what benchmade recently got into trouble with their fan base for?
