Description

In 1996, brothers Mark and Chuck Larson founded Rock River Arms in an 1,800 square foot shop in Cleveland, Illinois. Mark and Chuck together brought over 40 years of varied experience in the firearms manufacturing industry into their new endeavor. The quality and reliability of Rock River Arms firearms continues to win new admirers. The U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) and Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) put a variety of different manufacturers rifles through an exhaustive trials process, and based on those trials awarded Rock River Arms with a 5 year contract as their primary supplier. Since that time Rock River Arms has received additional federal contracts. Rock River Arms is one of the fastest growing firearms manufacturers in the country, but remains committed to continuing to provide it`s civilian, law enforcement and military customers with the kind of custom products and services on which it`s reputation has been built.

Which one is better "this one or Ruger 556 carbine" ? Which one would you buy ?

The Rugers are relatively new.. They are great riffles, but haven't really heard to much about them. If they are the same price, I'd flip a coin

Ruger is 300-400$ more

Personally I would go with this one then. If you can wait it out prices will go down by summer

I can wait. Will wait.

Maybe this is just me being optimistic, but hopefully this is a sign that things are calming down. A month ago this would of been gone in 2 minutes

It is a decent deal. I have owned several ARs for years. Price them regularly. This was an "OK" price, considering what you get, prior to the madness. Now it is worthy of posting. Sportsmans is a great place to buy guns and as of a minute ago they had one in stock. Some of you guys are being a little picky in the days of Barack Hussein Obama.

Call me insane, but I imagine the bottom falling out of the AR market after the dust settles. Production is at max capacity, OEMs can't keep up with the demand... and if no bans come through, there'll be a lot of hoarders sitting on a pile of common mass produced firearms that they paid too much for, and the "real" demand for them won't have increased much.

It is certainly possible and you may be correct. Considering we are stuck with Obama until 2016 I would put money on the anxiety level staying pretty high. $1400 for a good AR with the accessories (in this case) is still a decent price. Let's hope you're right hutch.

A rumor is that dems are just waiting for next congress election to improve their chances passing the entire bill. Right now they do not have votes to pass even hi capacity magazine ban. AWB could not come in terms of votes even close. But if during the next election democrats win the congress then this will be it. It will be a gun control on everything not only assault rifles and high capacity magazines. Probably only 28' double barrel shotguns would remain legal to avoid a constitutional change. Supreme court is already under democrats control and will approve whatever legislation shell it be passed. So hording stuff is not a bad thing, we just have more time that originally was projected.

Rock River makes a great gun. But there's a misconception here about the price. YES Rock River ran a special on these for $1000 last year. That special ended in November before the panic and shortage even started. You will NOT see this configuration for that same price again, which has nothing to do with the current market.

The "Operator" series of today is essentially the Elite Comp which has an MSRP of $1515. Very few minor differences. The Elite has a flip-up rear sight ($119) and the Operator comes with a tactical carry handle assembly ($150). Also half-quad verses full.

This is a good price for a great gun.

LGS gets the Elite Operator 2 rifles in pretty regularly these days and sells at this price. I love the look of the Elite's hand guard as opposed to this. Not a bad deal considering the current market, however, if you're not hard pressed... don't pull the trigger. Give it a few weeks and supply will continue to increase. These RRA rifles will be back on shelves soon.

The Operator series has actually been discontinued. They do have some other nice guns, but if you happen to like this particular package, you wont be able to get it much longer. I have an elite Operator and its a fantastic gun, but their new offerings do like very nice also.

It's not the best deal.. But I am a huge Rock River fan. If someone wants to pay the price, at least you're getting a great AR in my opinion.

I disagree. These guns WERE selling for a grand on special with a 6+ month wait before this. Why? Because they were a FANTASTIC value at that price. At $1400, for one of the last new ones left (it has been discontinued), you are still getting a great package for the money. Plus their current offerings cost about this much and have a very long waiting list. This is high-quality, semi-customer AR and the cost represents the build quality, along with features. Make no mistake this is not a DPMS.

I agree with you... "Great package for the money" considering the environment. I talked to a very large Rock River dealer today to inquire about their new 3G set-up. He said MINIMUM lead time is 8 months. With that lead time, they are having to charge the price listed on the Rock River website when they used to be able to heavily discount the guns.

Not all Mil-Spec AR's are equal. I agree.. It's no DPMS.. This is MUCH better!

I guess I can see that. And the way I see it...it isn't for me....but hey...its their money and they can do with it what they want. I over payed for my spikes stripped lower...cause i wanted it that bad. So, makes sense. I am just wondering though...what makes these 1\3 to almost double the price better than the rest that...justifies the price? I mean they all just shoot bullets and all have the same design with slight differences in features. I had an 18" SS Wilson Combat Tactical Match barrel married to a frontier polymer lower and it shot 1 inch groups at 200+ with match ammo. Haven't even tried at 300+ yet. (But , I just mounted it to my Spikes set up tonight) The frontier will get the AR Stoner barrel that was on the Spikes.

Serious question. I will never pay $1,400.00 price so obviously I would never be able to judge its quality or any at almost $1,500.00 after tax title and license for one rifle.... just curious. No, I am not being argumentative or any of that. I concede to whatever point you are making. I am honestly curious.

Being in stock doesn't make this a 4 star deal, does it? Am I missing something?

Nope, these could be had for 1K shipped (go to AR15.com and check it out if you don't believe) before the chaos, and those times will return for the patient.

No, you're not. I honestly don't know anyone that ever pays these prices....but if they are selling them for that then someone must have or still is. Case in point look at the Colt right above this deal. $1400.00 not including ship and transfer fee....someone bought them...they are now OOS. I just built another AR today. Got the last piece needed. Spikes upper from AIM. $99. Total build cost: $740.00. And that $740 price is some inflated prices for some parts. Other parts I got lucky with just shopping around and waiting for the good deals.
