This is a nice setup and pricing, but 5.56 out of a 7” barrel is pretty much just a concussive fireball maker. Yes, projectiles have evolved to offer expansion at a lower velocity. But even then, it’s still only a 22cal round and it’s going incredibly slow for a rifle cartridge. For an actual defensive weapon, just about any other caliber that is made to fit the AR platform would do better out of this barrel length (minus maybe 204 Ruger).

People say this, but also extoll the virtues of the FN 5.7. I don't get it.

I really wanna hear less people tell me it's not good enough and see actual ballistic gel examples. Not that i'd use such a small gun, but I don't care for FUDD

I get where you're coming from. Two things.

1. Ballistics gel is a poor substitute for human tissue. An actual "meat test" like Paul Harrell performs would be a better analogy.
2. There are limited .22 caliber projectiles that would offer expansion at ~2200fps (Reference: https://fortheloveofthegun.files.wordpress.com/2014/08/chart.jpg?w=540&h...)
3. The majority of the powder charge is wasted in a barrel this short.

All that said, it's still an "effective" weapon inside 50 yards. Personally, I don't want "effective" in a defensive rifle. I want better than effective. There are SO MANY other caliber options for the AR-15 weapon system that are more effective than 5.56/.223 in a short barrel - 6mmx45, 6.5 Grendel, 6.8 SPC, 300 Blackout, and others. For example, a 300 Blackout in 7" barrel will have much more effective powder burn and offer significantly more energy on-target compared to 5.56/.223 within 50 yards. (Reference: https://www.thetruthaboutguns.com/5-56-nato-vs-300-blackout-ballistics/)

This isn't "FUDD". This is physics.

But this is your money. You do you. Just because this is what the physics says doesn't mean you can't buy one and enjoy it.

wow this is a great deal on a great weapon. Especially during the current panic buying crap. Id be willing to bet these either have sold out or close very soon. May have to bust out the credit card.... haha
