Description

Rock River Arms Two-Stage Varmint Match Trigger (3.5 Pound Varmint Version) This National Match two-stage trigger from RRA is an excellent trigger for your AR15 rifle. These are used frequently in Varmint and Long Range AR builds where a lighter 2 Stage trigger really helps accuracy and round placement. These triggers come pre-adjusted by Rock River gunsmiths as a matched pair and drop in all mil-spec lowers with no adjustment necessary for an easy drop-in install. Rock River 2-stage NM pins are .1555 in diameter and are not recommended or designed to be used with .154 pins or .170 Colt lower receivers. .1555 RRA Trigger pins will install in any standard milspec lower receiver without modification but may be noticeably more snug than the .154 pins upon install.

I'm curious about the pin diameter it calls for, at .156. Everything I am reading says small pins are .154 and large Colt pins are .170/.169. Not knowing the precise hole diameters in the receiver and this trigger calling for a pin larger than mil spec. it seems to me the trigger could possibly have a little slop in it, although .002 is very tiny. And they are saying their .1555 pin will fit standard receiver holes but a little tighter. Any thoughts on this?

Several years ago I asked myself the same question. Here is my best guess of what happened. At some point in development, or early marketing RR realized their was a design flaw in the trigger that was causing an unacceptable amount of drift/walking with mil-spec pins. A good company would have addressed and corrected the design issue. Others might have opted to include .154 anti-walk pins with the trigger, but not RR. They opted for the cost effective, Shit-Head solution of over-sized pins, knowing this would increase the likelihood of the pins walking if the trigger was ever replaced with one using mil-spec pins. If you do a little research you will find some other issues with these triggers that RR has chosen not to addressed..

A few years ago the RRA triggers were one of the best low cost options available to the budget minded AR shooter, but all that has changed. Don't waste your time and money on a RRA trigger, or any other budget trigger, when you can buy a LaRue MBT-2S for only $87. It may take them a few weeks to ship it, but in the end you will be very, happy with your new Trigger. Go to larue.com, and check out some of the 700 reviews posted by current owners. You will find it nearly impossible not to order one.

Sorry RRA, I don’t buy from companies that sell out to gun grabbing politicians.

The LaRue and Geissele are 4.5. total. 2.5 on the draw, with 2.o on the pull/shot. Both explain that in the adds. Anyone know how this one breaks down??

Pretty sure that it is a 3.5lb trigger which is why it feels like more than 2lbs. My trigger pull scale finds them within a quarter pound of what they claim.

If you don’t mind a 6-8 week wait, get a Larue MBT 2 stage for $99. I replaced my RRA varmint with it. The MBT is better than my gieselle (sp?) 2 stage and this one too. Great trigger for the price, but waited 8 weeks.for it.

I have both the RRA Varmint and the MBT 2. I agree on the MBT 2 for a few dollars more if you are willing to be patient...

Yes there are better triggers out there on the market, but for $80 this two stage trigger especially if used with JP reduced power Springs is freaking awesome. Everybody out there who is bashing it probably hasn't even tried it. Have them in six rifles and would never consider spending an additional 150 to $200 on a different trigger. Cannot go wrong with these

Best 2 stage trigger deal on the planet. Feels like it breaks at more like 2lbs.

Ordered on Saturday and received it on Thursday.. just finished a brand new build with this trigger and their lpk. Easiest trigger install ever and the pins fit just right. Ready to take it to the range.
