Gosh I friggin hate laser etching!!! I think most people wouldn't have a problem spending an extra $15 bucks for these manufacturers to actually roll mark the guns!!!

I wanted this handgun but the glock 20 seems all around better. This is heavier so it likely has less felt recoil but the glock has twice the magazine capacity (15rds). If only this was made in the USA (Philippines), i’d think about buying it. Oh well...

Quick tip:
Look into aftermarket parts for a 1911 and then look at aftermarket for a Glock.
Sure you can get stuff for a glock, but you can get every single part for a 1911 in 100 different designs/levels of quality/types of metal/levels of performance/etc.
It's not even close, you can probably get 500 different hammers and 1000 different triggers.
Make it what you want, then change it all over again for next year, lather, rinse, repeat.
If you need more than 9 rounds it's not a gun issue, it's a shooter issue.

Not sure if you're aware that aftermarket parts for 1911s that are worth a damn generally requires fitment, which to most people means it will require a gunsmith. Especially when you are dealing with so many manufacturers across many different countries all with varying tolerances. I'm not by any means hating on 1911s or rock island, I've had a ria gi 1911 in .45 for years and haven't had any issues. That being said I still trust my glock more and feel it is a superior choice for most tasks.

"If you need more than 9 rounds it's not a gun issue, it's a shooter issue."

LOL, okay Nancy Pelosi....who needs a 15 round "clip!"

-100 year old gun design vs a modern day firearm
-Most / many cheap 1911's are not reliable enough for self defense.
-1911 for CCW? Do you wear a 4X or sport a fanny back?
-Locked and cocked with an exposed hammer? Good luck keeping that clean.

Aftermarket parts? Come on, unless you want to change the look of a 1911, Glocks probably have double the functional parts (from reliable manufacturers) such as sights, triggers, barrels, slides, etc...stuff that matters to people who actually shoot or are concerned with the operation of a firearm. We aren't talking about a BBQ gun with a bunch of chrome plated parts and a bedazzled Punisher grip.

Not even in the same category.

Dan Wesson, Ed Brown, Les Baer, Wilson Combat, Nighthawk, Springfield, Colt, S&W, McCormick, Cabot, Bar-Sto, and about 9000 others.
All top notch, all make custom 1911's and all make individual custom parts for a 1911.
So, who exactly are these top notch world famous Glock builders again ?
BBQ is what you do with a plastic POS like Glock, throw it on the grill and hope a real pistol comes out.
If YOU can't stop 3 attackers with 9 rounds of 10mm, YOU suck and should not be shooting anything....ever.
Sure I like large magazines, but I don't *need* them, I can shoot and don't have to spray.
BTW, I CCW a CZ97BD and it's as large and as heavy as a 1911, I'm not a prissy little wimp.

Comparing a Glock and 1911 are like trying to decide between a tractor and dune buggy, they are completely different animals.

Like 330AK47 stated, they are both my abroad so I am not sure what you point is there.

The Glock is also an import. RIA makes a double stack 2011 version for around $1K
