Had one of these, actually quite the good shotgun especially at this price point. Reliable and decent quality. Perfect for the truck or home defense

I had one few years back and really like it for a shotgun. Really don't care for shotguns so sold it but action was really smooth and no probs at all. Looks great too.

Thank god for the previous 2 comments, I was totally about to buy one of these per the price and appearance!!! Then again, had these comments not been here, I would have probably spent at least 30 min - 1 hour checking out other online reviews of the gun & my gut tells me the rest of the internet shares the sentiment of the two previous commenters. At least, the honest reviews of the gun...

I held one of these at a local shop and it felt extemely cheap and looked poorly built. Just my opinion from what I saw. I'm sure it would work for awhile but I would think someone would better off spending a little extra money on a mossberg instead.

A Mossberg Maverick can be had for the same $ and shares a lot of the same parts/accessories with the 500. I have a Maverick and a 500 and both have been very dependable with zero regrets.

These are good solid steel guns. That being said.. the internal Springs are not very good. I have had it about a year and I am unable to load a round into chamber unless one is behind it.

These are decent shot guns. I own one.

Pros: short trigger stroke / light pull combined with super smooth pump action = very fast shots

Heavy wall barrel is durable & patterns well.

Cons: near ZERO accessories available. The only thing available from RIA is a pistol grip that costs $25 and doesn't even come with a screw or washer to install it.

So basically if you like it as it is - buy it. If you ever think you may want to have some other options go with the Maverick 88 by mossberg. It can take most of the 500 accessories & the 8 shot security pumps can be found on sale for less than this.

$25 shipping and handling, plus insurance, charge sorta takes the good out of their good deals!

I will never buy from Cheaper than Dirt and no one else should. They're charging $4.50 per round + shipping for 9mm ammo. $90+ for 9mm home defense rounds. Not to mention after Newtown they had no backbone, pulled all their standard capacity magazines and many semi auto rifles that would be considered "assault rifles" by the liberal media. They're selling brown bear, 500rds for 300 bucks. I got 1000 for 330 shipped from another offer on this page. Lastly, their colt ar15 that used to go for 1100, selling it for $2600+ They're worthless, price gouging assholes. And they're WORSE than the gun grabbers, because they pretend to be on our side for MONEY. Not another DIME!

I bought one of these for $185 AFTER tax at Fred Meyer in December before the scare. Not bad for a super cheap gun, but I'm not sure its a deal in the $260 range... Seems functional, but finish work was not the main focus.
