Why are combat hammers and skeletonized triggers always considered upgrades on 1911s? Besides appearance, they don't seem like they would actually make a difference.

This does have wood grips (eyes roll) it comes with two sets of grips one pair wood and one pair of checkered plastic grips as shown in pic this is the a1 tac model based off the GI model just has skeletonized trigger , Novak sights and rounded hammer. Very happy with mine and is California legal and on roster , base GI model is $389 so for $66 dollars more it is well worth getting tac model for $455 considering the upgrades

Flagged. Description doesn't match picture/item. Definitely not "wood grips."

FWIW, the model number of the gun on the vendor's website shows on RIA's own site as a fully parkerized finish, not two-tone as pictured here and at Sportsmans Guide. RIA also refers to this model number as a "standard", not a "tactical" in its item name, but then changes their mind and calls it "tactical" in the item description. I have no clue what it is that would make this "tactical", as RIA's "tactical" 1911's all seem to have a rail ahead of the trigger guard.

Also note the item is titled as a "1911 Tactical Full Size", yet in the vendor's description right under that title it says "This 1911 Tactical COMPACT Handgun has it all" (emphasis mine).

Seems like it would be a good idea to figure out what you're actually buying before you order. The picture on the Sportsmans Guide site appears to be the same as model #51447, which has a nickel frame and a parkerized slide, seen here:
